About the adventure
NOTE: This game has already started, but this is a great time to jump in, especially if you've started Curse of Strahd but never got to complete it! The party is level 7, and they are currently seeking the second of three key items to defeat the vampire lord. Any type of character is fine, but the party is seeking another spellcaster and/or a "Face" character with social skills. We have a great group of players. Feel free to message me if you have any questions! Welcome to Barovia - a land of mist, darkness, monsters, and malice, all trapped beneath a veil of eternal twilight. Untold evils lurk in its forests, eager to prey on unlucky passersby. Even the very fog that enshrouds the land is lethal. Of those who enter, there are few who can return. The poor souls who reside here are doomed to repeat vicious cycles of life, death, rebirth, and undeath. And above all, Barovia is ruled most powerful vampire to have ever haunted the night. He is Ancient. He is The Land. He is Strahd von Zarovich. Countless adventurers have delved into the dark corners of the land in endless attempts to dethrone the vampiric ruler. Now the streets run red with their blood. However, a new band of misfits has found themselves trapped in this land, brought here to be pawns in the vampire's diabolical game. As a player in this iconic Dungeons & Dragons fifth edition campaign, you will take on the role of one of these adventurers, facing off against cunning werewolves, mystical hags, ravenous zombies, and other horrors of the night. Will you finally be the one to end the Curse of Strahd? What to expect from this campaign: 🩸 Gothic Horror - Expect frights of all types along this journey. Safety is never guaranteed in the land of Barovia. 🩸 Epic Fantasy - This journey will bring characters from levels 1-10 and possibly beyond. Build the character of your dreams and set forth on an epic adventure! 🩸 Mysteries and Moral Dilemmas - Face a multitude of choices hat can alter the course of the story in this sandbox-style adventure. 🩸 Challenging Combat - Face off against some of D&D's darkest and fiercest monsters. Character death is a real risk in this adventure, so play smart, fight hard, and roll well. 🩸 Fast-Paced, Story-Focused Gameplay - Players will always have the chance to try new things and live out their character moments, but the adventure will keep a steady, consistent pace. The goals will be clear, and the story will always be moving! 🩸 New Rules - Explore new subclasses, weapon masteries, starter feats, and more with the 5e 2024 rules! You are also welcome to use the classic 2014 rules and its expansions for more species and subclasses for character creation. 🩸 Homebrew Additions - I have made minor changes to keep the game surprising and compelling, including a unique take on the character of Strahd. 🩸 Inclusive Storytelling - I updated this adventure to ensure all players and characters feel welcome here. TTRPGS are for everyone!

About me
Hello! My name is Travis (he/they), and I have a whopping 15 years of experience running games of Dungeons & Dragons across a variety of editions, timespans, and settings. I have spent most of my life just outside of Lake Geneva, WI, the birthplace of the game, and I fell in love it when I stumbled across a starter set at a local garage sale. The rest is history. I have a bachelor's degree in English with a certificate in creative writing, and I am attending classes to earn a master's degree and become a mental health counselor. As such, I run games to experience the joy of building rewarding narratives and creating memorable stories in a collaborative setting, but I also run games to offer others a safe and encouraging environment in which they can express and enjoy themselves.

Creating your character
Please refer to the following document for my guidelines on character creation: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1etMOTBYXRExNU5HwI3mj9YEWoG9fqaNtUjql2d__BuY/edit?usp=sharing We will solidify characters over Discord, but we can also have a session 0 if the group prefers it.
Our party currently has a human paladin, a human barbarian, a tiefling cleric, and a human rogue/cleric. They are at level 6. The party is seeking another spellcaster and/or "Face" character, but any character type is acceptable to join the party!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Please ensure you have a working microphone, a stable internet connection, and a complete character sheet. If you're having any issues or questions regarding character creation, you are welcome to message me at any time.
What TravTheGM brings to the table
I use D&D Beyond and Discord to run my digital games. I use the D&D Beyond Maps feature for digital maps and tokens. I also will provide ambient music. We use audio for chat, with video being optional. The sessions last for about 3 hours with a brief break in the middle and a chance to debrief afterwards. I am alright with players roleplaying their characters in either a first-person or third-person perspective, but I prefer to put on voices and act out my characters to create a more immersive experience. I invite others to do so as well!

How TravTheGM creates a safe table
While I am still learning the finer details of the 2024 rules, I have over ten years of experience running games of Dungeons & Dragons. My games are accessible to new players and experienced players alike, they are LGBTQ+ friendly, and they utilize safety tools to help everyone feel comfortable. Safety tools implemented in my campaigns include content warnings, the X-Card, and the (optional) RPG Consent in Gaming Checklist to establish Lines and Veils. We can also pause/rewind/fast-forward elements of the game if we need to. However, be warned; the content in Curse of Strahd is bleak, macabre, and intense. If more than 3 of the items included in the content warnings below are hard "Lines" for you, meaning you prefer they not be included or alluded to within your gameplay at all, then I advise finding a different adventure to play.
