About the adventure

When the dead rise, how much is one life worth? While exploring the Cairn Hills, a band of ragtag adventurers stumbles upon a tomb containing a dark secret. With this grim power unleashed onto the realm, it is up to these unlikely heroes to stop the forces of evil and let the dead lie dead. When a wealthy noble begins buying bodies and the citizens of Greyhawk are found dead in the streets, who can be trusted with the truth? In Gold & Bones, take on the role of a daring adventurer. Delve into dungeons, plunder forgotten riches, destroy undead, unravel the mystery, and save the realm from destruction in this campaign for 1st-7th level characters. What to Expect - Immersive Narrative: High - Dungeon Crawling: High - Exploration, Travel: Moderate - Puzzles, Intrigue: Low - Optimization: Low - Hack-n’-Slash: None - Character Death: Infrequent but possible This story is not one for high optimization, power gaming, or metagaming. At this table, we embrace failure and take risks. Interesting stories are ones where the characters can fail, learn, and grow. All levels of experience welcome! I believe this campaign can make for a great introductory game for new players, and it's sure to excite and surprise even the most experienced.

Game style

Roleplay Heavy

“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

Combat Heavy

“Combat Heavy” games emphasize the combat mechanics within their systems over roleplay or puzzle solving. There are frequent and longer battles with enemies and a greater emphasis on tactical game play.

Dungeon Crawl

A “Dungeon Crawl” is a scenario where players navigate a dungeon or labyrinth-like environment for the entirety of the adventure. It emphasizes battling monsters, collecting loot, and avoiding traps to survive to the end!

How will character creation work

OVERVIEW. - The campaign begins at level 1. - Ability Scores will be rolled together during Session 0 (roll 4d6 and drop the lowest). Rolled stats can be replaced with the Standard Array. - Hit Points use the fixed value only. - Character options are limited to 2024 Player's Handbook materials only. EQUIPMENT. You begin with standard starting equipment, as described in the Player's Handbook. Players will quickly earn more loot from there. CHARACTER SHEETS. Create your character in the D&D Beyond campaign (will be linked here on Startplaying.) I have content sharing enabled with many character options purchased for you to use for free. In addition, I can import your character from D&D Beyond into the Foundry VTT. OPTIONAL: If you are rolling in D&D Beyond, you can have those rolls appear in the Foundry VTT through the Beyond20 Browser Extension, linked below.
