Edge of Darkness | Zombie Survival Horror [Learn to Play]
Call of Cthulhu | One-Shot
About the adventure
You cradle Rupert Merriweather's wrinkled hand as he hands you a small, clay sarcophagus etched in hieroglyphics. He begs you, "please correct my mistake." ABOUT THE ONE-SHOT Decades ago, Rupert and his college friends brought forth a terrible creature from another realm, the djinn. And, while they sealed within an old farmhouse, the creature will escape on Rupert's death. Before then, you must find their old summoning materials and enact the same ritual, banishing the creature. Good luck. THE TONE While Edge of Darkness remains within Call of Cthulhu's usual 1920s milieu, it resembles Evil Dead (the original) more than anything else. This means,
Game style
Rules as Written (RaW)
Games that are ran “Rules as Written” emphasize realism and stick to the letter of the rules, allowing players to explore creative solutions while still operating under a consistent rule set. Players have the ability to utilize the rules in creative ways to create awesome characters and moments in the game.
Theater of the Mind
“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.

How to prepare
To participate in the session, you will need: - A Roll20 account (sign up is free), - A Discord account (sign up is free), - A microphone, - And a stable internet connection.
What I provide
I bring relevant PDFs (Keeper Rulebook & Investigator Handbook), an optimized Roll20 game room, and experience running this adventure before.
Gameplay details
As part of on boarding, I will ask players for their Lines & Veils and provide, which I'll note at the start of the one-shot. But if I foresee a problem before the session starts and can't remove the element, I'll discuss it with you. Most commonly due to vague wording. I am also responsive during play, in case something overly unpleasant comes up. In such cases, you can verbally communicate to the group your unease, drop an "x" in the chat, or PM me with an "x". Afterward, I'll remove or skim over the content as quickly as possible.

How will character creation work
I have five pregenerated characters available for use. But those withing to make their own can do so using the Keeper's Rulebook and Investigator Handbook. I only ask: - That they're complete before the session starts. I won't ask those using pregens or who've completed their character to wait, especially given the one-shot's limited time frame. - Include a connection between them and Rupert Merriweather, the quest giver.
