About the adventure
~~ This is not an original homebrew campaign. Our story takes place in the newly published Obojima setting ~~ Obojima is a world full of magic and spirits; where people live and explore, and where there are festivals for every occasion. Although life here is mostly idyllic with farmers tilling their fields and shepherds tending to their sheep dragons, there is plenty of adventure to be had. Travelers will find their fair share of it by simply walking from village to village, following rumors and spirit companions, and allowing the strange and wonderful tales of the tall grass to unfold.

About me
I’ve been playing D&D since I was 12 years old, and it’s a been a great passion of mine to this day. I started with AD&D 2e but have since shifted gears to learning and running 5e games. However, I’m up for potentially GMing 5e, AD&D 2e, MotW, or Starfinder upon request. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or comments!

Creating your character
We'll be rolling 4d6 drop the lowest for stating stats (likely on D&D Beyond, but I'm open to other valid rolling platforms), and be starting at level 3. You'll have access to the compendium on D&D Beyond, as I have the premier-tier subscription but, in order to avoid spoilers, I'd ask that you not read any of the blue-text sections or the "Mysteries, History, and More" section of the book. I recommend players select a subclass and background from the source book, but some options like Circle of the Land (druid), Scout (rogue), more or less any Cleric Domain, or any of the PHB (2014) backgrounds also make sense here. The race/species/ancestry options are: Human, Dara (Red or Blue), Elf (Obojima), or Nakudama. We will be running a free group-session 0 to establish your character's identity and their everyday life on the island.
Just to catch you up to speed, the party currently consists of: Yagi - A foolhardy blue dara / Shepherd monk. A tad naive, but he is fiercely loyal to Sumire. Sumire - A elf / Lantern warlock that graduated from the Witchery. She has a penchant for chaos. Fira - An observant human / Waxwork rogue that dutifully serves the Courier Brigade. She excels at survival/foraging-related things. Momoko - A human / Oath of the River paladin + draconic sorcerer. She is not from mainland Obojima, and is always on the lookout for seeds and plants. The party is currently being accompanied by 2 npcs: a nakudama midwife named Zolde (paladin), and a young cadet of the Courier Brigade named Lomi. The party is currently in Yatamon, the largest city in all of Obojima, with plans to venture to the Coastal Highlands.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You'll need D&D Beyond, Roll 20, Discord, a microphone, and a character concept in mind. You can have something made ahead of time. but I'll need to be in chat for your starting stat rolls. I will publish recaps and campaign info to World Anvil, but to respect the copyright, it has to stay private, so you'll need a free account to access it (though this part is optional).

How Joe creates a safe table
Most tales told within Obojima are generally going to be pleasant and relaxing experiences both for you and your players—a journey into a realm of leisure fantasy where time slows down and descriptions delight in the small details: how the warm breeze blowing across the Gale Fields dances on the skin, or the cozy comfort of sipping from a hot cup of soup on a cool evening around a campfire with companions. In Obojima, these small, sensory vignettes are a central part of the gameplay experience. But that isn’t to say that everything in the world of Obojima is pastoral and easy going. There are monsters and plenty of peril here that can turn a delightful stroll through the countryside into a harrowing situation where blades, bloodshed, and arcane magics are required. These contrasting facets of Obojima make for compelling storytelling as your moments of danger will feel that much more dangerous and your moments of tranquility will feel that much more earned.
