About the adventure
A slight chill in the air. The taste of dirt in your mouth. You awaken in the woods surrounding town but something is amiss. The Reenactment Festival was last night, and you played your part as an abductee well, yet your "rescue" hasn't arrived with a promised hearty breakfast. Fog swirls at the bases of the trees. A scream cuts through the air. The Season of Ghosts has begun. Season of Ghosts is a horror-themed campaign centered in the town of Willowshore in the nation of Shenmen on the continent of Tian Xia. You play a group of villagers thrust into the role of heroes - Willowshore's only hope of surviving the nightmare. Expect spooks, scares, and mysteries while hiking through the hinterlands surrounding Willowshore as you accept tasks to protect those you care about from the increasing threats emerging from the strange fog. Characters will begin at level 1 and advance to level 12 in a campaign that starts in the Summer and progresses through all four seasons.

Meet the Game Master
About me
Hey there! I'm Gamersaurus Lex, a longtime player and GM who owned a local game store for about a decade. I am a happy-go-lucky extrovert that spent the last decade of his life running a FLGS and professionally nerding out with gamers of every age and disposition. I love running games with lots of excitement, fully realized NPCs, and a true open sandbox approach, even when we're running an established module. You want to ignore the module's storyline and chart your own course? I will make it happen! Prefer to play in one of my homebrew campaigns set in the Moonsea Region of the Forgotten Realms? Buckle up, you're in for a wild ride! I have decades of experience introducing new players to the hobby, at my game store, conventions, and at my home table, so you couldn't be in better hands if you're just starting out with TTRPGs or if you're switching systems. I have been a pro GM for about 20 years, and only recently started offering my services online with StartPlaying. Veterans will enjoy my games, too, especially with all the Easter eggs that pop up in every session. I tend to run D&D 5e, Pathfinder 2e, and Starfinder these days, but I have plenty of recent experience with 3.x, Savage Worlds, GURPS, and the many varieties of the Cypher System. And, let's be honest, given time to prepare, I can run any system if there is a group that really wants that system.

Creating your character
We'll make/review 1st level characters during Session 0, discussing the provided backgrounds and material in the player's guide. I would recommend not reading *any* material about the Adventure Path, because solving various mysteries is a big part of this campaign and it is VERY easy to run into spoilers. We will be using Free Archetypes (no multiclass dedications), but that won't really become time-sensitive until we hit 2nd level.
We will schedule our session zero for the first Tuesday after we get at least 4 players. The session zero will involve creating our characters, going over the details of the game (setting expectations, choosing the right horror tone for the players, making decisions about variant rules and house rules, etc.).
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will need a microphone, Discord account, and free account on forge-vtt.com (to play through a desktop or laptop computer). Webcams are optional, as I offer video but that's usually on a group-by-group (or player-by-player) basis. All aspects of the game will be hosted in the Discord server or within the Foundry game itself.
What Gamersaurus brings to the table
I provide the official FoundryVTT implementation (art, maps, sounds, etc.) of the Paizo Adventure Path, but also bring custom-made assets. I also provide fully-realized characterizations of a host of NPCs to interact, an atmospheric and scary vibe, as well as personal story hooks that will draw players into the game.
Homebrew rules
* Keep hero point is new roll is lower. * Ronald the Rules Lawyer's version of Aid (more generous). * Ronald the Rules Lawyer's version of Recall Knowledge (more flexible).

How Gamersaurus creates a safe table
Session 0 will cover the creation of our characters as well as developing connections and conflicts between party members and other folks in the village. In doing so, we'll go over any issues players might have with a horror campaign and set some expectations about the tone of the campaign (we can run it anywhere from the lightness of an Evil Dead comedy horror to full-on Ring/Grudge style grim horror).
