Death to Heroes - a D&D 5th Edition Campaign (LGBTQIA+ Friendly)
Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign
About the adventure
HEROES ALWAYS WIN -- But what about everyone else? For years, adventurers have stormed into villages, looted dungeons, and slain monsters, never stopping to think about the collateral damage they leave behind. You are one of the people they overlooked. Maybe you're a humble shopkeeper, a low-ranking bandit, or just some poor soul trying to get by in a world that treats you like background noise. But you’re done being a footnote in someone else’s legend. Something bigger is at play. The same quests. The same cycles of destruction. The same disasters, over and over again. It’s almost like the world wants heroes to have something to fight. Like someone is making sure there’s always a new villain, a new war, a new prophecy to fulfill. Maybe it’s time to take a closer look. This is a comedic, high-stakes campaign about underdogs rising up, flipping the script on heroism, and taking back a world that was never meant to be yours. If you like satire, conspiracies, and stories about reluctant heroes, you just might be the right kind of adventurer for the job.

Ryan is an incredible and insightful storyteller who can keep up the flow and mood of a session. However, that does not mean Ryan lacks humour. He still weaves the story although he drops in a few quips here and there. As a storyteller, he is more than willing to help newbies to VTM, and as a newbie myself, he has been incredible for the time I've been with him on his games.
I happened to join a game right before the very first session (literally day before) and Ryan was very kind and helped walk me through character creation quickly and in a way that made sense but didn't leave me in the dirt trying to keep up. The world was quickly established in a very user friendly way (it takes place in NY, I'm not from anywhere near NY) and Ryan has no problem rolling through what the players come up with. All around excellent GM for those that are new!
Ryan is a great storyteller and amazing for new players. In just a session I was familiar on how to play VTM and I've been loving it. It's been a fun ride so far and I'm only 3 sessions in. Ryan keeps the plot interesting while allowing for player agency enough to do what we want while pushing the story forwards! I'm really looking forward to what's happening next! I would definitely recommend him for anyone who wants to play Vampire or any other game!
Ryan has been an absolute blast to play with, I was very new to role-playing and to vampire when I started and Ryan has fostered a group where I was welcome and invited right away, the game is good balance of intriguing plot and character driven sandbox, I've been very impressed with Ryan's reactivity and stellar improv skills, it seems like wizardry to me. All in all 10 out of 10 game and GM, I thoroughly enjoy every session.
Ryan was my storyteller for Vampire: The Masquerade, and he did a fantastic job! I really enjoyed his storytelling style. The general vibe was always very open, relaxed, and comfortable. He does a great job of making players feel at ease, which I loved. He also did some entertaining and consistent voices. Would highly recommend!

How to prepare
We will be using Discord for voice chat, and Roll20 for dice rolls and maps. Please make sure you have an account with both of these services. Please have a decent, working microphone/headset. Please come to session zero with an idea of the type of character you would like to play. Bringing character art is highly encouraged, but not necessary. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Are you new to Start Playing? What I provide
I will provide any pdfs of source books we may need. I can also provide you with a character token or art if you need it. I also enjoy doing character voices and weaving player characters' backstories into the game.
Gameplay details

How will character creation work
Players will start as Commoners. After the first session, you will "level up" to Level 1 and choose your class and use either Standard Array or Point Buy (your choice) to determine stats. Characters will be created together as a group during Session 0, so bring a few character concepts to the table. All officially published Wizards of the Coast 5th Edition material is okay to use, with the exceptions of Spelljammer and Strixhaven. All Critical Role material is also okay to use. I do not allow homebrew or other 3rd party materials (Humblewood, Acquisitions Inc., etc.), just for the sake of keeping everything balanced.
