Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign

About the adventure

Join this whimsical and wonderful world filled with friendly goblins, spiteful pixies, and a menagerie of talking animals! This campaign will hit the spot for anyone looking for some fairytale fun! Many years ago, you attended the Witchlight Carnival. It was a wonderful and dazzling place! You snuck in as a child to see the grand performers and experience the spectacle of it all! But something, something very important, was taken from you. Now that the carnival is back in town, you decide to investigate. There is a mystery to solve at the heart of the carnival. This game is a fairytale, full of little guys, evil hags, and tricksy fey. You will be transported to the feywild domain of Prismeer to find your lost items and tasked to restore order to the land.

Game style

Rules as Written (RaW)

Games that are ran “Rules as Written” emphasize realism and stick to the letter of the rules, allowing players to explore creative solutions while still operating under a consistent rule set. Players have the ability to utilize the rules in creative ways to create awesome characters and moments in the game.

Roleplay Heavy

“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

Sarah is a DM with great adaptability. She takes player wants into account when planning out her next sessions, but still keeps her eye on balance for the sake of the table. If you as a player ask for something, she will at least give it honest thought. Her favorites seem to be the goblins. Try not to overuse the Silence spell. Sarah can get into roleplaying her villains, and it really is a shame when she can't monologue.

Most game masters were made. Sarah was forged. She possesses the direction and focus anyone must have to do the job. She is unflappable, handling large parties with rotating and uncertain participation in a quick witted way. Sarah doesn’t miss beats for odd shifts in story, and has a ready imagination. Her emotional intelligence also allows for quick integration of disparate party members. If you need a DM who is swift on the uptake and gets a party going quickly, Sarah is your lady. She also knits lovely things!

Amazing GM. It's technically my second time playing with a DnD group and Sarah has been wonderful in fleshing out the world and encounters. All the characters are unique and feel alive. I really enjoy the visual aids and the cute drawings of the characters that she voices into life. She also helps keep the story going while also allowing us to explore around. We've had amazing experiences that live rent free in my head and every once in a while, think of, bringing a smile to my face. Often I find myself retelling events to friends and family and it is very enjoyable.

Sarah is perfect for both beginners and experienced players. She does a great job of explaining the rules in a simple way, so new players can pick things up quickly without feeling overwhelmed. She also makes sure everyone feels comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace, which makes the game enjoyable for everyone. For more experienced players, she brings exciting challenges and interesting story lines that keep things fresh. She knows how to adjust the game to keep it fun and engaging for everyone, no matter their experience level. Whether you're new to D&D or have been playing for years, Sarah makes every session enjoyable and memorable.

How to prepare

What you need to bring: *Players should have/make an account on Discord *Players should have/make an account on Tableplop. (https://new.tableplop.com/) If any players would like me to put their character sheet into Tableplop for them, just let me know! *Players do need a microphone. I prefer to play with video, although this is optional. *Players need an idea for their character! If you need help creating a level one character sheet I am happy to schedule a one-on-one meeting to walk you through it. *A willingness to get a little silly!

What I provide

I lean more heavily towards roleplay, but keep a balance of combat and exploration as well. I love to do voices and be dramatic! I prefer running games with video as I find it easier to communicate when we can see each others' expressions. But I am willing to accommodate players who prefer not to show their face! I run mostly rules-as-written games. I don't mind reflavoring some of the text to help you achieve your character idea, but would rather not do heavy homebrew as I don't want things to get too unbalanced. I love to make silly little pixel-arts for all of my NPC's. I do not use AI to generate anything for my games. If you would like me to create an icon for your character, I will be happy to do so for our first session! I run my games on Tableplop, with gridded maps. Tableplop is highly customizable and free for players! It also allows me to create your character-sheet for you, if you do not feel comfortable learning the platform. Lastly, I like to try to incorporate immersive background music. From pastoral ambiance for a stroll through a field, to Phantom of the Opera for the tense confrontation at a theatre, I want the atmosphere to be engaging!

Gameplay details

I am committed to making a safe and inclusive game for all of my players. LGBTQ+ and BIPOC friendly! This campaign is generally appropriate for most audiences. There is some fairytale child abuse (Imagine Hansel and Gretel being fattened up to be eaten by a witch). I will send a Consent Checklist before Session 0 to all players. We will discuss our Lines and Veils at session 0 (hard-line-no vs fade-to-black for uncomfortable content). At any time, there will be no judgement if a player needs to step out of a session due to its content. I will also pause the session if any player expresses discomfort with how the game is going so that we can discuss consent before continuing.

How will character creation work

*Session 0: Have at least a character concept. We will take some time to introduce our characters and build a bit of shared backstory between them. I will do a walkthrough of Tableplop during Session 0 to help you learn how to use it. If you need help creating your character or using tableplop, let me know! I am happy to help through messages or even set up a free one-on-one meeting to guide you through the process. *Session 1. You must have a Character Sheet on tableplop by Session 1. Please create a Level One character using any DnD 5e content officially published by Wizards of the Coast. I recommend new players stick to the Player's Handbook (PHB). Stats can be point-buy, or you may choose to roll for stats at Session 0 using a discord dice bot. You may create characters using either the 2014 or 2024 rules. I will be using the 2024 rules to arbitrate spells, mechanics, and monsters. If you choose to use 2014 rules, you may choose to take an origin feat from the 2024 PHB instead of your background feat. *Your character needs to be an adult. There are magical spells in Prismeer that concern children and the campaign will not work if our party has child members.
