About the adventure
Days of walking culminate in a bright green oasis. Surrounded by wide, reaching oak trees. A large grove of tall grass, deer, and wild berries populate the unclaimed coastal lands. You feel your legs ache, they burn with exhaustion, your mouth, dry in the heat and sweat still piling up underneath your linen clothes and heavy bags. You have finally reached the location of your new home, what will eventually become a shining beacon of hope to all both within and outside of Aethurun, in this campaign you will found and expand a small farm into a village and over the course of decades, a sprawling settlement. With a wide cast of player characters and non-player characters that include everything from demonic pigs to stone spirits, wooden giants and baby frogs. This campaign is for those who want a fun, relaxing, roleplay-based dungeons & dragons experience, with an emphasis on having a fun time and developing fun character stories over the course of years in-game. While also building a mighty village that will grow into a town and even a city as your responsibilities and power grows! -------------------------------- Aethurun, her elegance, is a nation of many small kingdoms, and these kingdoms are going through a large change, after a devastating volcanic eruption that devastated much of Aethurun and her surrounding landmasses. The world is changing rapidly, with new early-colonial efforts occurring in the south and new trade routes found in the west, not to mention the recent introduction of Gunpowder and firearms in the world. Aethurun is seeing itself gearing up to become a very new place in mere decades time.

About me
Hey all, Scott here! I'm a Game Master from Australia, and I’ve been running TTRPGs for longer than I care to admit. With a background in film and a lifelong love of storytelling, I’m passionate about crafting cinematic, character-driven adventures full of laughter, tension, and maybe a few tears. I specialize in sandbox-style campaigns where player choice drives the world. Expect freedom, consequence, and stories that grow naturally from your characters’ actions. Add a few silly voices, some epic music, and heartfelt moments, and you’ve got the kind of table I love to run. When I'm not running games on Startplaying or for my own group of friends, I like playing video games, exercising, and doom scrolling on my phone. My favorite video game series is a tie between The Legend of Zelda and God of War (The soundtracks of which you will become very familiar with if you join any of my games). I love listening to music and spending a night with friends. I hope to see you at one of my tables!

Creating your character
Characters are currently level 5. I will work with new players on creating characters that fit the existing setting and party dynamic either over messages or a voice call. I am open to almost any and all ideas!
Current party is level 5 and is made up of the following characters: - Father Cane: A wise Twilight Cleric Frog - John Moe Brown: A lightning-fast Gunslinger Fighter Moth - Maize: A stealthy Moon Druid Elf - Silas: A young and Naive Ghostslayer Blood Hunter Goliath - Lenore: A battle-ready Wild Magic Barbarian Deer
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players are expected to have a functional microphone and are heavily encouraged to read over a document detailing some of the homebrew rules in this campaign and setting, which has some slight additions from normal 5th edition rules, such as more Actions for Martials, rules for brewing Potions and more expansive Downtime rules. No Software installations required.
What Scotty C brings to the table
I will bring the paid version of Owlbear Rodeo, that allows players to get the most out of the software, without having to pay themselves, as well as maps for all battle maps, towns, cities and countries required within the game
Homebrew rules
Primary Homebrew Rules: - Martials have more attack options depending on their weapon - Brand new races for players to pick from, such as Wodegeists (Stone spirits), Theraphim (Animal folk of any kind) and Drakonids (expanded Dragonborn) - Spell Points instead of Spell Slots for more flexible casting - Sorcerer, Ranger and Monk receive slight buffs to make them more fun!
