Blood Drive | Learn to Play Deadlands |🏳️🌈♾️
Deadlands, Savage Worlds | Campaign
About the adventure
Howdy partner! Welcome to the Deadlands USA or, as some call it, the Weird West. This ain't the old west you've seen in the pictures. Out here the dead get up and walk and a mysterious new ore called Ghost Rock has spurred scientific innovation in strange new ways; not to mention we got the Devil himself wanderin' around making deals with folks, and he ain't helpin' 'em play the fiddle better, I tell ya that! Whatever weirdness the west holds, life continues to go on. The owner of the Lazy S Ranch is in need of a few extra hands to drive his longhorns out of Texas. Could be just the kinda job you need. An of course, you know it won't take long for the Weird West to reveal itself. As it turns out the longhorns ain't the only thing that need protecting. Someone has it out for your boss and they'll stop at nothing, not even death, to bring him down. Lucky for him, he's hired a crack team of Wildcards. You'll need your wits sharp and your aim true as you: • Fight rustlers, critters, and monsters of all sorts • Stop a vengeful shaman • Find Top Secret plans that were smuggled out of Roswell • Slay a nest of vampires • Stand up to rail tycoons and greedy cattle barons Time to saddle up partner, we got ourselves a blood drive!
Game style
Rule of Cool (RoC)
“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.
Theater of the Mind
“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.
Roleplay Heavy
“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.
Deadlands/Savage Worlds is a game that is easy to pick up but has complexity if you go looking for it. You play as Wild Cards, people who are better skilled, more capable, or maybe just luckier than the average fella, you are the ones who shake things up in the west. The party is learning the ropes of ranch life and getting ready to head north with a heard of long horns. Plenty of room on the trail for another cowpoke or two.

What I provide
As a GM I strive to empower players to bring out what they want to see in the game. We're here to have fun but also maybe learn something about ourselves, turn flaws into strengths, explore new aspects of ourselves, or just escape from the daily struggles for a while. Whatever that is for you, I want to help bring it out. When I GM it's equal parts Theater of the Mind and map exploration and combat. I bring life to every interaction and encounter. Not every NPC you meet will have a "voice" but they'll have a distinct personality. I have a pro tier Roll20 subscription to help make use of lots of tools for immersion. I also assemble artwork to use as visual aids during games and make playlists so we can vibe to some appropriate tunes during the session.
Gameplay details
We'll go over how to use the Safety Deck in session 0. Most sessions will include a short break especially after more intense moments; players can also call for breaks whenever needed. I also have an open door policy so players are welcome and encouraged to reach out to me about any issues at all.
