About the adventure
Fixer looks you dead in the eye and says "One year of service in exchange for the thing you desire most. Stability, wealth, the chance to right some wrongs, a purpose to your life. Whatever your motivation, you are being given the opportunity to achieve that desire,” she pauses and takes a deep breath, “...and to save the world.” In the land of Lort, one of the council of 12 wizards has gone missing - and with him his secrets and experiments that would shake the very foundation of the world. Come join the adventure and discover what strange magics are being unleashed! A 1-20 campaign set in the homebrew world of Lort, using D&D 5th edition 2024 rules. Hand drawn art from my children (where possible), maps for combat and theater of the mind for social engagements.

Meet the Game Master
About me
I started playing in 1987, and DM'ing 6 months after that. I've run several long term campaigns in several systems over the years, and the best part has always been the players and the story. Moments of excitement, emotion, and the feeling of being with friends for a great adventure is the heart of my style. And puns...so many puns...
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
Character creation happens during session 0, though more experienced players are allowed to do so in advance if they wish. Using D&D Beyond characters can have a standard array, point buy, or roll 3x and keep the best for stats. I have access to all the source books and share them with players, so no purchase needed. We can discuss character concepts in advance through messages.
I run a beginner friendly, LGBTQ+ friendly, safe space. While campaign politics might happen, real world politics should be left to the real world. We are friends telling a story together, so we should always be respectful of each other. Combat and roleplay are both important, and as a group we will decide if PvP is allowed. Puns happen. I can't help it...so if you hate puns, I'm sorry but this ay not be the game for you...
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Items needed: microphone for voice chat; D&D Beyond free account (I share all my books); Discord (I have a server for the campaign, and we will use that for voice/video chat); speakers or headphones (so you can hear me) At session 0 we will discuss the setting/world or Lort, and how the characters fit in it.
What John brings to the table
I bring 38 years of experience in roleplay and storytelling. I love creative and innovative solutions and encourage "rule of cool" gameplay. I tailor combat to the party composition for a thrilling experience and include tactics based on the adversaries intelligence and knowledge. I try to bring levity and encourage players to join in the fun (yes, puns happen). I've tried voices, and i am willing to try again... Oh, I will be using my children's art when possible for tokens, maps, etc.

How John creates a safe table
At session 0 we will go over themes and content that players wish to avoid. I am always available for messages and private conversations. We will also use in game tools to moderate content and ensure we are all having a good time.
