About the adventure
'Under raging storm clouds, a lone figure stands silhouetted against the ancient walls of Castle Ravenloft. The vampire Count Strahd von Zarovich stares down a sheer cliff at the village below. A cold, bitter wind spins dead leaves about him, billowing his cape in the darkness. Lightning splits the clouds overhead, casting stark white light across him. Rumbling thunder pounds the castle spires. The wind’s howling increases as Strahd turns his gaze back to the village. Far below, a party of adventurers has just entered his domain. Strahd’s face forms a twisted smile .... The master of Ravenloft is having guests for dinner... And you are invited.' 🧛♂️ 🩸Curse of Strahd🩸 is a Gothic Horror campaign using the Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition rules- DM Thom will guide you on a peril-filled adventure through the lands of Barovia, with you and your characters at the centre. This will be a weekly level 1-10 campaign, and is open to beginners and veterans alike! Session 0 will be free, with subsequent sessions priced at $10.

About me
Salutations! My name is Thom and I'm a game master based in the UK 🇬🇧🏴. I'm dyslexic but somehow manage to pull the words together when I'm talking about Dragons or Aliens and such! I've been running TTRPGs for about 8 years, and have been DMing Dungeons and Dragons games for about 5 years. I always aim to put your experience as a player first! I have a cat named Freya and large box of RPG materials which i'm not entirely convinced isn't a mimic.

Creating your character
I am more than happy to set some time aside for players who want to discuss their character backstories, any questions about the character creation process, and reccomend tools to help you craft your character, and I can't wait to meet them! Any race/lineage and class combination is valid, but I would ask that if players want to use a custom or homebrew subclass or origin that they run it past me first before your first session. The players are currently level 4 and the party consists of: Lacrimosa- Circle of Spores Druid Dorian- Hexblade Warlock Erysi- Death Domain Cleric Idha- Abberant Mind Sorcerer
No Experience needed! If you are a beginner I can talk you through the basics to get you started playing the game before the session, and can help talk you through any questions during play as well. Make sure you bring: -Yourself! -A concept for a character that you would want to play to explore this gothic-horror setting. -a laptop/pc and a stable internet connection. -A working microphone. -A working webcam (optional). -A Discord account (https://discord.com/). -A DND Beyond account (Or another online character creater tool, this can be discussed before your first session) A Roll20 Account (https://roll20.net/) -Any questions or clarifications you have about the game or campaign!
What Thom brings to the table
🦇- An in-depth knowledge of the module and setting, along with the descriptions, maps and artwork to bring the world to life! 🕷️- Atmospheric music and ambience to draw you into the world and setting 🩸- Use of Roll20 as a digital tabletop, including maps, tokens, and lighting! 🧛♂️- NPC character voices ranging from the dramatic to absurd 👂- I'll always listen to my players at the table, and respond to what they want out of their game. ⚔️- Fluid, well-paced combat, balanced with storytelling, mystery, and puzzles. I am not a combat-heavy DM, but am happy to add a bit of 'crunch' for those that want it. 🛡️-A promise to ensure that everyone at the table feels safe and comfortable, with safety tools and a 'Session 0' utilised to ensure your enjoyment of the game as a player. I am not a 'rules by the book' GM- I like to find oppurtunities to allow players to achieve what they want whilst maintaining the challenge in the game- the rule of cool prevails!
Homebrew rules
Homebrew rules include the 'Fate Dice' system to replace traditional inspiration. At the start of the session, every player roles 1d6. On a roll of 4 or above, the party add it to their pool. On a roll of 3 or below, it goes into a pool for the DM. These can then be added to saving throws, ability checks or attack roles by the party when adventuring, and when expended, get added to the DM's pool, and visa-versa. Also numerous small changes/adjustments to the 2024 rules.

How Thom creates a safe table
🛡️ We'll go over the content warnings, 'Lines and Veils' and other safety tools during Session 0, where we will also discuss character creation, what you can expect from me as a DM 🛡️ . Session 0 will also be a free session. Even though this is a horror campaign, there will be oppurtunities for whimsy and humour.
