About the adventure

Welcome to Adventures in the Household, a game of diplomacy, exploration, and daring exploits set in a world where you are smaller than a mouse. Step into the grand, abandoned House, where the Little Folk, including Faeries, Boggarts, Sprites, and Sluagh, have built nations among the furniture, waged wars over forgotten rooms, and uncovered the secrets left behind by the vanished Master. In this whimsical yet dramatic setting, each room is its own kingdom, filled with intrigue, mystery, and adventure. You might find yourself solving a political crisis in the grand Dining Hall, hunting dangerous insects in the wild Basement, or sneaking through the shadowy corridors of the Upper Floor. Will you be a noble diplomat forging alliances, a clever duellist seeking revenge, or a fearless explorer venturing into the unknown? Adventures in the Household is a 5e adaptation of the original Household RPG, meaning it uses a modified version of the Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition ruleset while introducing unique mechanics to fit the setting. This game is for players who love rich storytelling, deep roleplay, and a touch of historical drama. Inspired by European folklore and 19th-century intrigue, Adventures in the Household is perfect for both newcomers and seasoned roleplayers looking for something unique. Whether you are navigating the treacherous politics of the Realm, solving a centuries-old mystery, or simply trying to survive in a world far bigger than yourself, every session is an unforgettable journey. Join us and make history one tiny step at a time.

About me

Hi there! I’m Vee, and I've been running games as a Game Master for about six years now. I love crafting immersive, character-driven adventures that emphasize deep storytelling, meaningful connections, and collaborative creativity. At my table, your character’s journey is at the heart of everything, and your choices actively shape the world and narrative around you. My games are perfect for players who enjoy roleplaying, exploring personal story arcs, engaging in dynamic interactions, and uncovering thrilling narrative twists. I aim to create a welcoming, inclusive, and richly detailed environment where everyone feels free to fully explore their characters and contribute to an evolving story. I’m excited to meet your character and dive into their adventures with you, so let's build some unforgettable stories together! What You Can Expect at My Table - A safe and inclusive environment (LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC-friendly) - Roleplay-focused gameplay where your character’s story truly matters - Collaborative storytelling where creativity and player agency are encouraged - Welcoming atmosphere for both new and experienced players Looking for a Game? Take a look at my listed games, or reach out directly if you're interested in a custom campaign or one-shot. I'm always happy to chat and help you find the perfect game! More About Me (Beyond the Dice!) I’m 36 years old, currently living in Canada, and have been passionate about storytelling and roleplay since I was about 11. My journey started in PokĆ©mon chatrooms before moving onto forum-based RPGs across various fandoms (Harry Potter, Star Wars, X-Men, general fantasy, anything that sparked my imagination!). I discovered tabletop RPGs through D&D 5e in 2018 and haven't looked back. These days, I play and run a variety of games and love supporting players as they tell meaningful, character-focused stories. If you enjoy roleplay-driven adventures filled with rich storytelling and meaningful character moments, I’d love to roll some dice together! šŸŽ²

Character creation

Creating your character

The available Folks (races) and Professions (classes) are limited to those outlined in the "Adventures in the Household" core rulebook, which will be made available to you. However, I may allow exceptions if the character concept fits naturally within the world. If you have an idea that falls outside the standard options, feel free to DM me to discuss it! Also, instead of playing a single character for the entire campaign, players will create multiple characters throughout the early parts of the Saga, experiencing the unfolding history from different perspectives and different nations. Each Chapter represents a different year in the Household’s history, allowing players to step into the roles of different Littlings during key moments. This structure provides a rich, multi-generational feel, as the actions of one character will influence the fate of another in a later Chapter. As the Saga progresses, players will settle into playing a primary character. Through this journey, players will witness first-hand how events shape the world and their future protagonists, making each decision carry historical weight.

The current party

This game will run every third week, with the occasional every other week game, depending on player availability. We're finishing up the second chapter of the story now, which means everyone is making a new character for the next story. This mean it's the perfect time to join! You'd be starting a level 1 character with everyone in Realm, the fairy kingdom.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

| Equipment | A clear, working microphone is required. Please make sure your microphone is working before the session. Headphones are a very good idea, if possible, in order to prevent disruptions from ambient noise. A webcam for video is not needed, but is welcome and encouraged. | Software | An account with Discord is required, but Foundry VTT does not need one. We will be using Discord for voice chat and general game management, and Foundry VTT for visual content. Foundry VTT is best used on a computer. Both are free to use. https://discord.com/ | Game Understanding and Virtual Tabletop Use | Familiarity with the rules is helpful but not at all mandatory. We'll clarify rules as we go and support our new players! The same goes for your understanding of Foundry VTT. | Mindset | Come prepared to be part of a deeply engaging narrative adventure! This game thrives on teamwork, imaginative thinking, and mutual respect.

What Vee brings to the table

A Discord server will be set up for the game. There will be background music and ambient sounds for atmosphere played during the game. The session will use theatre of the mind with images of characters and settings. We will be using Foundry VTT for the visual and audio content. My approach balances the game's overall experience with a reasonable adherence to rules, emphasizing creative storytelling while ensuring gameplay remains structured and coherent. Expect a lively, engaging game with me, where the rules are respected but not to an excessive degree, allowing for a fluid, role-playing rich experience.

Safety

How Vee creates a safe table

Ensuring a comfortable and inclusive experience is a top priority at my table. We will use the following safety tools to support a respectful and engaging game: | Monte Cook RPG Consent Checklist | Before Session 0, all players will be asked to fill out the Consent Checklist to establish boundaries and ensure everyone’s comfort. | Session 0 | We will begin with a dedicated Session 0 to cover: - Setting expectations for tone, themes, and roleplaying style. - Reviewing the Lines and Veils document, which will be provided via a shared link. - Discussing character concepts, group dynamics, and personal story arcs. - Covering game mechanics, homebrew rules, and safety tools. | Breaks | Players can request a break at any time if they need to step away, and a scheduled break will be included in the session. | Stars and Wishes | At the end of each session, we will reflect using Stars and Wishes. Players can highlight moments they enjoyed (Stars) and share what they’d like to see more of or improve (Wishes). | X, N, and O Cards | Players can signal their comfort levels during play using these tools: - X (Stop): The scene ends or shifts immediately. - N (Pause/Modify): A player can use the N card when something in the game is making them uncomfortable, but they don’t want to stop the scene entirely. It signals to the GM and other players that the scene could possibly continue, but with some adjustments. - O (Okay/Keep Going): Players can use this to confirm they are comfortable with the scene’s direction. These will be available digitally in our chat or as a private message. | Support | After intense or emotional moments, we will take time to check in. Players are encouraged to reach out post-session if they need to debrief or process anything. By using these tools, we create a space where everyone can fully enjoy the world of Adventures in the Household. Let me know if you have any personal preferences or additional safety needs!
