About the adventure
Kickstarted this beautiful book and I'm very excited to try it out. Looking for players excited for the cozy storytelling and the slice of life drama of it all. Bring your Veilguard self-insert or your best old PC who deserves a nice retirement, or we can dream up our battered main characters in the moment. I have the character sheets and the nifty stretch-goal extras. Let's start a tavern together! Basic premise: putting the Role Playing front and center in a TTRPG. We will collaboratively jump into retirement (don't we all long for that about now?) and start the second chapter of our lives. The game uses your former life as an adventurer as a starting point, and slowly converts the dominant "adventurer experiences" into "town experiences" as you get used to settling down and the worries of today drown out the memories (traumatic and glorious) of the past. Once all players have made the transition, the campaign ends and we fade to happily ever after. There's tons of space for creativity, improv, collaboration, and thoughtful additions to the game. It's built to be non-DM (I'd be one of the players) but we can discuss peoples' comfort with that and adopt some, all, or none of the collaborative leadership they suggest.

About me
Telling stories since I was a kid with a tape recorder in my mom's closet (good acoustics). I like to learn systems and help people actually have fun with the game they are playing! And maps. I LOVE MAPS. If you want someone who's as invested in telling a good story as getting rules right and who leans to humor instead of horror, I'm your middle-aged nerd.

Creating your character
We'll use the character creation section of the Stewpot book in session 0. (I also have this in PDF if anyone wants to take a look, including the stretch goal "expansions") You're welcome to bring ideas with you but be open to finding a vibe with the other players as well! As with any TTRPG, you gotta have a reason to be part of the group - so we'll work on those. It can be 5 wizards or all barbarians or just a duck and his favorite two druids, as long as we want to start a tavern together.
Just getting this started so now is the time to join! We can always add folks along the way. - LBGTQ+ friendly - Bring your creativity - Join now and you get to decide what we name the tavern, and where it is!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Please come prepared with: - Stable internet - Webcam / microphone - Free Discord account (can help if needed!) - Free Roll20 account (can help if needed!) - Your preferred way to take notes - for this game I think maybe we each have a little notebook? And then we can write journals and doodle and such too. But if computer is how you roll that's ok too! - An open mind and collaborative spirit
What Nancy brings to the table
We'll be exploring this new system and its cozy game vibes. My GM style is definitely rule of cool leaning, and I'm more interested in everyone having fun than in rules being met 100%. That said it's a light rules system so I think mostly this is a game for people who are interested in building a character and exploring their world with some others with bum knees (darn arrows) and sore backs. I do expect THIS round will be a more "normal" fantasy tavern (ie: not sci fi, probably no guns) as I get to know the material better. I love making maps so once we've selected a name and type of tavern, I'll likely do my best to build us a bit of a home base map for the town, and for the different floors of the tavern - but those can change as the game goes on! I have the full Roll20 module, so I'd host on Roll20 and we'd have a dedicated section of my TTRPG discord server.

How Nancy creates a safe table
We'll make sure to establish lines and veils in the session 0, and I'll share that document around to everyone. You can always message me on discord or here to discuss anything that makes you uncomfortable. I expect some adult themes, as these are adventurers at the end of their time of traveling, and will have some lived experiences that may influence the stories they tell. We will establish those boundaries together. That said, I do not run games that involve: - Sexual assault or Non-consensual sex - Slurs or other discrimination - Slavery in any form - Body horror / extreme gore
