About the adventure

ONCE upon a time... there was a little village called Deerhollow, that was very much like any other little village. It had a blacksmith and an inn and a bakery that all the citizens were quite proud of. UNLIKE other villages however, Deerhollow was nestled at the heart of the WILD and MAGICAL Tanglewood. Rumors abounded on the source of the Tanglewood's magic... Some say that it was enchanted by a powerful fae. Others say that the blood of a great magical beast was spilled in the wood. All that's known for certain is that the Tanglewood is extremely dangerous to traverse, and things that enter don't always leave... and those that do don't return unchanged. The braver citizens of Deerhollow entered the Tanglewood as needed to hunt and forage. But not even the bravest of the villagers dared go near the tower of the witch Dulcinea. For there is bravery and there is foolishness. And, as everyone knows, there is nothing more foolish than entering the domain of a WITCH. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ More about the game itself: Once upon a time... there was a Princess. Actually, a few Princesses. You have probably heard their stories. The Princesses who were locked away in towers or had evil step-parents. The ones who kissed frogs or tamed beasts or were secretly mermaids. You know. THOSE Princesses. This game is about what happens to those Princesses when they find themselves in a whole new world with new perils lurking around every corner. A world of dragons and monsters and wizards and the Dark Scary Things that hide in the Dark Scary Places. Luckily, they begin this adventure especially equipped to deal with the challenges that await. They have their resolve, their grace and their wits—the kind of inner strength that only Princesses possess. Paired with a basket of goodies and a special Gift from their Fairy Godmothers, they sharpen their swords, light their torches, polish their glass slippers and set out together to delve into the darkest dungeons. __________________________________________________ Subject Matter: fantasy, mystery, violence, medieval-like themes, dark brothers grimm, harm to children, harm to animals, but will be done in accordance with lines and veils. You can expect classic fantasy magic tropes from things like Disney movies, musicals, folklore, and the darker, more eerie source materials those derive their themes from.

About me

Hey there! If you're looking for a narrative, player-driven, inclusive experience - I'm your chef - no wait, game master! My gaming ingredients are: 🄩 protein-packed - I love games with real chewable moments for players. Dig into your feelings! 🫐 fruity - I'm a part of the LGBTQIA2+ community and my ideal games reflect all sorts of diversity, neurodivergence included <3 🄬 nutrient dense - love lore? love digging into complex and interconnected systems? we stan a story built around the players! ā˜•ļø warm and cozy - I aim for an experience that draws players together and fills our buckets! Safety tools are a must! Check out the available games or contact me for a custom one-shot or campaign pitches! Here's a little bit more about my time in and out of the kitchen (game world!) I've gm'd and ran learn to play sessions, one-shots, mini campaigns, and full campaigns (30+ sessions, multi-year) for: šŸŽ² 5e (2014, module and homebrew) šŸŽ² Powered by the Apocalypse system games (Brindlewood Bay, The Between, Monster of the Week, Avatar Legends) šŸŽ² Dicepool games (Blades in the Dark, R'lyehwatch RPG, and Slugblaster) šŸŽ² OSR games (Cairn, Mausritter, and Perils & Princesses) šŸŽ² one page games (Rat Chef, Lasers and Feelings, Cracker Barrel has Fallen, Boy Problems, Honey Heist, etc - really anything I can get my hands on.) I'm the ~librarian~ of my ttrpg circle, constantly backing or supporting new games on kickstarter, patreon, or drivethrurpg. I enjoy creating a homebrew experience or tailoring content for the game my players want - so they can shine in their roleplay, character growth, and community. What I love most as a player AND a GM are those GASP moments, where jaws are hanging open, players realize a woven plot thread, or we all collectively revel in major story moments.

Character creation

Creating your character

Players will be invited to a discord server where the game will be hosted and given all the materials to create a character. There is not an expectation to make a Princess (character) before session 0, only to familiarize yourself with the content provided. Players will have the opportunity to make their characters day of at the start of session using roll tables, but are encouraged to make them beforehand. Characters will be created on fillable pdf character sheets provided by the warden (that's me!)

The current party

Sweet Revenge is an established campaign module for Perils and Princesses from Outrider Creative! No experience needed with this system in order to get started. This campaign has an anticipated starting month of JULY 2025 and a biweekly schedule. Due to the close-knit nature of characters and roleplay interaction this game tends to have, everyone playing will have an onboarding chat with me prior to the campaign starting/joining the game to ensure the game and group are a good fit. To allow for this, a player who joins with less than 24 hours prior to game time will be invited to spectate the session for free (if desired) and start officially participating with the next session after the onboarding discussion, safety form, and character creation. Party makeup has an Enchanting Voice princess, a Kitchen Magic princess, and an Elemental Connection princess so far!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need a stable internet connection, a webcam, a mic, access to discord and google (both you can make for free!) They will need to review materials prior to our session but will not need to make a character.

What Syd (Shawk) brings to the table

I'll provide all the resources necessary to create a character and play the game, all via PDF and hosted online in a ttrpg-centric discord! I'll utilize ambient music, a shared google sheet for our information - and we'll play with video on discord! If a map is needed, we'll utilize the free owlbear rodeo interface. I love to try character voices (though maybe not able to carry an accent consistently) and give varied dynamics with all NPCs. This is a combat light, roleplay heavy old school style game in which the players are encouraged to roleplay and think strategically. For princesses, not every hazard should be met with violence. Players can expect a goofy tone with serious moments from time to time in a primarily classic fantasy-themed experience.

Safety

How Syd (Shawk) creates a safe table

The game or system involves events that may result in descriptions of biases, motives, accidents, injuries, abuse, jealousy, classism, betrayal, religion, and/or cults. Your character may experience some violence as part of their journeybut has the option to be more or less careful about putting themselves in danger and to state/share any lines or veils around this prior to any roleplay. We will fill out a lines and veils sheet at the top of play and go over all safety tools for our digital game. Safety Tools: Lines & Veils, X-Card, CATS will all be in effect.
