Fallout 2d20: One Grande Adventure!

Fallout: The Roleplaying Game | Campaign

About the adventure

Step into the Grand Canyon in the year 2101, on September 13th, to be exact. At 14:37 hours, MST, the door to Vault 52 opened to reveal three other Vault doors in a deep underground cave. You are one of the Vault dwellers sent out to see what these other Vault doors lead to, why they have not opened, and if there are indeed survivors. This will be a beginner-friendly game, but not an Intro to Fallout game. Some familiarity with the franchise will be needed, even if it is only having watched the Amazon TV series. We will make characters in advance and play using Roll20. If you do not have an account, they are free. Membership to my Discord server will also be required.

Game style

Roleplay Heavy

“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

Combat Heavy

“Combat Heavy” games emphasize the combat mechanics within their systems over roleplay or puzzle solving. There are frequent and longer battles with enemies and a greater emphasis on tactical game play.

Theater of the Mind

“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.

Rule of Cool (RoC)

“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.

Recruiting notes

In this beginner/entry level Fallout 2d20 game, you will journey though what is the world of the Grand Canyon. Terrible mutations, mis-programmed robots from a bygone age, and the Grave of the Planes must be navigated in order to discover the mystery as to why the other Vaults did not open at the same time....

Eiric creates a world with a huge sense of scale and depth. He rewards his players for clever tactics in combat and imaginative role play which encourages people to fully immerse themselves in his world. As a beginner, playing with Eiric has been ideal as he has helped me learn game mechanics and has solved any technical bugs I have had as I get to grips with D&D and the technology required to play role playing games online.

I've played a couple of sessions so far with Eiric and he's been tremendous. Had a fun time. As a first time player in Numenera, he made it easy to learn and play at his table.

He's prepared, conscientious, and has an old school "for the love of the game" quality. I couldn't be more satisfied.

I loved playing with Eric! The story was always super enjoyable and the allowance of fun roleplay was great! Very helpful and knowledgeable and great for beginners or those returning to the game after a long time. I always had a lot of fun and looked forward to each session. Also very respectful of boundaries and understanding towards limitations. Eric was always very kind and patient, willing to explain anything or help out to the best of his ability. I would definitely join another game hosted by him! 100/10 would recommend.

Phenomenal GM/Narrator. Created a wonderful experience. Made a fun environment to play in. He gave us opportunity to play the characters, share in the story building, and make us feel a part of the story and relate to the NPCs we got to interact with.

Additional details

How to prepare

Players do not need to prep unless they desire. Please look at the following link if you want to research the game and lore. It provides a playlist of the best video series for Fallout on the web: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvqm_pPD-aQ&list=PL7pGJQV-jlzD17YNNbt103xp0PkkUCoPU The players will be required to make their own character, though I will be on-hand to aid with that. You will need a mic in good working condition, without distortion.

What I provide

I own everything Fallout realted when it comes to books and games, including all the Modiphius content. I will be altering the in-game lore of the timeline, and some characters will be adjusted for the purposes of the story. I have over 30 years of experience as a GM. I do accents and mannerisms to bring great detail to NPCs without overdoing it. I tend toward heavy tactical combat while also focusing heavily upon role-playing and story development. I would like to see all characters as well thought out, with developed personalities and a short backstory about what they have done with their life in Vault 52. So you know, Vault 52 was charged with keeping historical artefacts safe, preserving literature and art and media in many other forms. It featured a multi-level hydroponics lab between levels 5 and 6, and spanned 13 levels all told. I will be providing Handouts for all important NPCs for the game, including character art. You will be able to take notes on each character within the given handout. Bonus XP will be awarded for good role-playing, typically 10-30 per session, maybe up to 50 for a truly epic session.

Gameplay details

Session Zero will be held to make characters as a group as well as go over the basic rules. Afterwards, we will begin game play. We will take breaks at the halfway point of every session, usually around 12 noon MST. The Open Door policy means that not only can players come and go without any need of explanation. Further, should you ever have questions for me as the GM, you are welcome to do so in open on private forum. Stars and Wishes are actually going to be using the RBT Method (Rose-Bud-Thorn), whereby each player in turn lists something they loved, something they want to see, and something they did not like.
