About the adventure
On a planet called Valkana, magic and science co-exist, wielded by a wide variety of beings: humans, elves, dwarves, saurians, constructs, and more. High-magitek cities stand tall on the ruins of ancient civilizations. But it is this co-existence of magic and technology that has been the focus of wars past and present. Ancient evils have awakened, and unlikely heroes will rise to face them...in the Ashes of Valkana. This game is based on TitansGrave: The Ashes of Valkana, a setting created by Will Wheaton. It will be played Theater-of-the-Mind and use the beta-test version of Daggerheart as a system. Creating your character
Character creation will be handled via Demiplane. Any character ancestry that can be made with Daggerheart will be fair game, as Valkana is a setting diverse enough to accommodate a wide variety of characters. The sci-fi parts of the setting will come about as flavor text of existing weapons and abilities. For instance, an Improved Crossbow would be a stand-in for a blaster.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
First familiarize yourself with the world of Valkana as seen in this video: https://youtu.be/YWn6b8vi-PY?t=450 Players will need a microphone and a Demiplane.com account (a free account works just fine). Webcams are not required. Character art is encouraged, though I am not a fan of generative AI. I will walk players through Daggerheart's gameplay if they are unfamiliar.
What David E brings to the table
I offer a Discord community in which to play this one-shot, as well as images and music to enhance the Theater-of-the-Mind experience. I utilize humor, character voices, and heavy emphasis on roleplay in my GMing style. Rule of Cool and ease of gameplay takes precedence over Rules as Written. As a fair warning, I am also neurodivergent, so please take that into account as well.

How David E creates a safe table
I will discuss Lines and Veils with the players before (and at the start of) the one-shot. I will make communication as open as possible through Discord, both in the group and in private messages. This is an 18+ game. The sensitive topics I've tagged have a possibility of coming up in game, either during gameplay or the discussion of backstories. However, I don't condone them in real life, and I will endeavor to be sensitive to the players' boundaries. The degree to which they're given description will be discussed ahead of time.
