Report Adventure

About the adventure

Welcome the dawn of a new age as the rampant extraplanar magic that once filled the western reaches of Greater Palladia is banished for good by the enterprising archimage Clara Eulalie Meriwether. Now, the cramped, down-on-their-luck citizens of the Palladian Provinces only have to trek out into the newly-uncovered wilderness and stake themselves a plot of land, and they can start building fortunes they never dreamed they could possess. But what dangers lurk out in the untamed wild... and what sinister intent looms behind the narrative of westward expansion itself? YOU WILL PLAY AS a group of level 3 Palladian citizens trying to strike out on their own. In session 0, we'll figure out what bonds your party already has. Are you a family, or a motley crew of criminals on parole who have no choice but to band together? Are you bright-eyed with optimism for what the road ahead might hold, or are you running from a dark past that you pray will never catch up to you? We'll find out together on the way out West! About me

Hi! I'm a Dungeon Master in my free time (during the day I'm an acting major at college in NYC). I run several weekly D&D home games with different groups of players and I'm used to adapting to various genres and tones. In life, I genuinely don't think anything has as much power to bring people together as storytelling. I love meeting new people and learning what they want from their characters and their narratives. (And yes, I promise I'll read your backstory.)

Character creation

Creating your character

Starting level will be 3! Any published or Unearthed Arcana content is cool as long as you run it by me and we work out how to integrate it into the world (this is a new setting so not much is set in stone). Be sure to use the legacy 2014 ruleset when applicable, NOT the 2024 version-- unless there's a new subclass you're particularly attached to. We'll be rolling for stats and you can either create your character sheet with me in our (free) Session 0 if you need guidance, or let me know what your plans are and then write it up on your own if you feel comfortable.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a mic; a webcam is suggested but not required. We'll be using Discord, so create an account if you don't have one already. I suggest you come in with at least a vague character idea, but I can help you out if necessary. No need to read rules ahead of time, just let me know how familiar you are with the system so I know how much guidance you'll need.

What Evie brings to the table

Get ready for intriguing NPCs (with fun voices!) and deep, immersive worldbuilding, complete with in-game resources like world maps, letters, and notes to help you feel invested in your characters' circumstances. Combat for this campaign will be Theater of the Mind, and when it comes to the rules, I wholeheartedly encourage you to wield the fine print like a weapon but embrace the Rule of Cool when it serves you best. Overall, my goal as DM is for you to have fun! I create worlds for players to get lost in and plots where your choices have a genuine impact, with rewards and consequences aplenty.

Safety

How Evie creates a safe table

I ask players whether they prefer to keep Lines and Veils private between them and the DM or if they'd rather compile a public list. Debriefs will include various prompting questions from notes about the players' experiences ("Is there anything about the way the game is run so far you think could be improved upon or changed?") to compliments for other people at the table, so players can be acknowledged for cool decisions they made! I also leave time for players to just discuss whatever they feel like talking about. During Session 0, I'll help you get your characters ingratiated in the worldbuilding, and we'll talk about your expectations for the campaign's tone and themes you'd like to see emphasized. I'll guide you through character creation if needed and we'll figure out the party's backstory, including why exactly you're heading west. Session 0 will also be absolutely free of charge!
