About the adventure

This campaign is the adventure module Chronicles of the Gatekeeper, published in 2015 by Fantasy Flight Games. Follow the trail of a lost Jedi Knight, uncover secrets hidden since the Clone Wars, and awaken the power of the Force within you! Beginners welcome! LGBTQ+ friendly. Synopsis: It's a dark time for the galaxy. The tyranny of the Galactic Empire reaches far into the Outer Rim, and the fledgling Rebel Alliance has only just begun fighting back. You thought you could avoid such excitement...until a Jedi holocron falls into your lap. The Jedi Order is long gone, but there is at least one Jedi still alive in the galaxy, despite the Empire's best efforts. The power of the Force flows in you, and the holocron can lead you to someone who can teach you how to harness that power. But what will you find at the end of the trail—and what price will you have to pay to realize your destiny?

About me

I'm a long-time roleplayer and GM. I love running games and taking players through exciting story-driven adventures with cool moments and fun action while weaving in impactful moments for their characters. I'm a game designer by day and have worked on properties like Star Wars, Marvel, and Lord of the Rings, but I also love building new worlds to explore. I play a lot of different RPGs and I'm always looking to try more. I'd love to share some adventures with you!

Character creation

Creating your character

We will handle character creation together during Session 0, following the standard rules presented in the Force and Destiny core rulebook. I will allow any career and specialization from the Age of Rebellion line, and most any alien species from the entire Star Wars FFG line (with a few exceptions if they're super weird). I am happy to share any books people do not have themselves. Feel free to come to Session 0 with ideas about what you want to play. If you aren't sure, or you are a new to the system, we can brainstorm fun characters during Session 0 together.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Make sure to have a decent microphone—a headset mic works great. Create a Discord account if you don't already have one. I am happy to teach rules as necessary, so you do not need to read them yourself unless you just want to.

What Brandon brings to the table

We'll use a Discord server for communication, where we'll have access to a dice bot to handle rolling and other things. I can also set up a Roll20 for the game if we decide we want one during Session 0, but we can also stick to theater of the mind if that's what the group chooses. I am a long-time GM, game designer, and Star Wars fan with tons of campaigns under my belt. Player fun comes first, and Rule of Cool often trumps Rules as Written. I like to offer exciting, dynamic adventures with challenging combats and interesting dilemmas, and adapt toward what engages a group most. I've written official content for this game, published by Fantasy Flight Games (though not this adventure). I was also part of the Star Wars actual play Heroes of the Hydian Way during its second and third seasons.

Safety

How Brandon creates a safe table

We will do a Session 0 to create characters and discuss vibes for the game. I'll also send out a Lines & Veils document prior to Session 0 and maintain a list of topics that should be treated carefully or avoided entirely.
