About the adventure
Eleven years ago, the city of Drakkenheim, the capitol and crown jewel of Westmar, was struck by a strange meteor, devastating the city and causing a strange haze to settle on all over the city. The city then became overrun with mutated monsters, eldritch horrors, and all manner of things, while the riches and treasures of the city lay up for the taking. Will you, brave adventurer, brave the city in search of treasure and fame? Will you even survive the attempt? Join us as we explore the Dungeons of Drakkenheim! [From the back cover] Dungeons of Drakkenheim is a fantastic adventure set in a gothic rennaissance ruined city. Although the campaign is designed for only 4 player characters, we will be playing with 6, and the encounters are adjusted accordingly. The campaign is roleplay and exploration heavy, with plenty of combat to go around! It has a much darker, eldritch horror vibe than more traditional D&D games.

Meet the Game Master
About me
Hello, fellow adventurers and dream-weavers! I'm The Daily Dungeon Master, also known as Chex on Discord. With over 27 years of dungeon mastering, I've journeyed through every edition from the nostalgic AD&D to the dynamic realms of 5th edition—and yes, even that notorious 4th edition! I've also run Call of Cthulhu, RuneQuest, and lots of the 3rd Edition adjacent games (d20 Modern, Future, Apocalypse, etc...). Why choose me as your DM? It's simple: dungeon mastering isn't just a hobby for me; it's a deep-seated passion. Here’s what you can expect when you join one of my tables: -Tailored Adventures: Your play style sets the tone. Love epic battles? Prepare for heart-pounding combat. Adore intricate mysteries? Puzzles and intrigue await. Crave deep character development? Watch your backstory become the backbone of our campaign. -Inclusive World-Building: I strive to create inclusive environments that welcome and celebrate diversity, both in characters and players new and veteran alike. Everyone has a place at my table. -Interactive Sessions: Expect sessions where your choices truly matter. I use dynamic storytelling techniques to make the world react to your decisions, creating a living story where everyone contributes to the narrative’s unfolding. -Community and Connection: I believe in building not just a campaign, but a community. Our adventures are spaces where friendships are forged in the fires of dragon's breath and the quiet moments between battles. Spotlight on a Recent Adventure: In my Sunday Selsuria campaign (an open-world homebrew campaign I wrote and designed myself, originally designed as a West Marches-style campaign but adapted for a single party to play!), a full two-thirds of the party was captured by hobgoblin slavers only for the wizard to escape with crafty use of his remaining spell slots (they were captured mid-long rest), linking up with the uncaptured party members, and performing a daring rescue of the party and others that had previously been captured. Afterwards, while escorting the whole group back to the town, they defeated an encampment of cultists along the way. The cultists worshipped some entity that was not within the known pantheon of deities, and is just known to them as "He Who Whispers in the Dark," an entity worshipped by strange and usually evil creatures throughout the area. Who is this entity? Feel free to join us and find out as we recently had a slot open up due to life events causing a change in schedule for a player (https://startplaying.games/adventure/cm6v1o087000m1ox4k304omf4). Join the Adventure: Are you ready to explore new worlds and test your mettle against formidable foes? I'm looking for heroes like you to bring our next story to life. Message me now to reserve your spot in my upcoming campaigns or to discuss your ideal adventure. Or, join me on Fridays and Thursdays for my “Learn to Play” games (RuneQuest and Call of Cthulhu)! Follow My Journey: Stay updated with behind-the-scenes looks, tips, and more on my BlueSky, theDailyDM. Creating your character
Character creation will be done at session 0, and finalized between then and the first session. There will be a lot to cover and go over, particularly lore that the characters would know/have prior to play. We'll be starting at level 2. Characters will ideally be created on dndbeyond.com, with the use of Beyond20 to enable rolls to appear in Roll20. You can play just about any race/class, with the exception of anything in Tal'dorei Reborn. That stuff is just too broken for my tastes. Message me if you have any questions Characters should expect to level up to level 17 or so, and this will be an experience point based leveling.
This is an amazing campaign to play, and I've run it several times with no two playthroughs being the same! It's got a very suspense/horror vibe, for sure. Additionally, I have Sebastian Crowe's Guide materials to use and I've pledged to their "Monsters of Drakkenheim" Kickstarter, so I have tons of materials for you to experience and discover! Don't let the number of sessions we've played deter you, as the party is still very early in and there's still TONS more to do! Current party composition: Sorcerer Wizard Monk Druid Rogue/Ranger
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You should have the following: 1) dndbeyond account with a character idea (I'm big on playing what you want, not what you think the party needs!) or make the request to have me create a character sheet in Roll20 for you to work with. 2) Firefox or Chrome or other compatible browser with the Beyond20 browser extension turned on. 3) A Discord account 4) A (free) Roll20 account All links will be provided upon joining. Also, keep in mind, character creation will look like this: -Abilities will be rolled using two sets of 4d6 - drop the lowest -Gear will be standard (do not roll for gold). Also, add 1 regular potion of healing. -Additional character options/backgrounds/etc... will be available, so you will need homebrew turned on so you can get access to them. If there are any other questions about anything I haven't covered, feel free to message me.
What The Daily DM/Chex brings to the table
I will provide all professional VTT maps with lighting and light background music (where and when appropriate). Any handouts will be provided via Roll20. I am big on doing voices for characters and NPCs and even some monsters (I've been told my kobold and goblin are particularly funny). Very big on Rule of Cool, and I'm the kind of DM that likes to say "Yes!" as much as possible. It is recommended, although not required, to own Dungeons of Drakkenheim on dndbeyond.com, particularly if you are playing a caster, as there is content there that is only found with that resource. Of course, if you cannot get dndbeyond.com to work, I can make a character sheet for you up on Roll20 if that's your jam. About Me: I have been a dungeon master for over 25 years and have DM'd for every addition since first edition AD&D (even the infamous 4th Edition!). I am always known as the forever DM because I rarely play. Why is that? Well, because I really love to DM! It is my passion and, as at least I've been told, because I'm good at it. I love doing adventures of all kinds. I've done pre-published stuff, of which I own everything wizards of the Coast has put out for 5e, I have tons of first and second edition stuff that I convert over to 5e, and I love creating homebrew stuff. I will also cater to your playstyle! Like combat? I'll give you combat. Like puzzles or role play? I'll give them to you! Like your background to be integrated into the story? Done. I have done and will do it all. What I Bring to The Table (both literally and figuratively!) -An professional, fair, and (most of all) fun experience, from an experienced and professional DM -Beautiful and professional maps complete with dynamic lighting and ambient music when appropriate -An exciting narrative story where you, the players, are the center of attention -No large groups! My max is 6 and my minimum is 3; I tailor the experience to the number of players at the table! -Play what you want, not necessarily what the party "needs," I also tailor the experience based on the player characters! I hope to see you soon!
Homebrew rules
1.) Drinking a potion of healing is a bonus action 2.) Administering one to another is an action 3.) All Nat 20's auto succeed and something cool happens like getting an extra attack or something similar during combat; everyone gets lucky sometimes 4.) Nat 1's always fail (outside of abilities that prevent so, like bardic abilities that keep you from having a roll less than 10 or some such), and end your turn if during combat; Nat 1 next to an enemy invokes an opportunity attack; everyone fumbles sometimes 5.) DM inspiration carries from adventure to adventure, but you can only have one DM inspiration at a time. 6.) Drinking a healing potion as an action gains you the full hit point value of the potion.

How The Daily DM/Chex creates a safe table
We'll start with a session 0 and go over a little bit about the campaign as well as any hard limits on what content you're good or not good with. Keep in mind, this is a survival horror adventure/campaign. I have a total and completely open door policy. If something rubs you wrong, all I ask is that you PM me and we can take a break and you and I can talk whatever issue you're having out. I ask that you give me the chance to fix an issue before dropping if something hits you wrong.
