About the adventure
Ready adventurers! Meet us at the Stonehill Inn in the town of Phandalin. Your unique talents are needed for the town’s survival. There’s also political intrigue afoot, so don’t cross the wrong person - or maybe do! All the while, there's a dragon up on Icespire Peak, and it’s upsetting the balance of life down on the Sword Coast below. This campaign begins with a customized version of Dragon of Icespire Peak, with more overarching themes and intrigue. It makes a good PbP campaign, as there are a bunch of mini-adventures and opportunities for building stray arcs. The leveling-up also happens quickly (milestone-based) and is designed to get you to level 6 or 7. If the party wishes to continue, other Sword Coast campaigns (Storm Lord's Wrath, Sleeping Dragon's Wake, and Divine Contention) are designed as a follow-up. This is a Play-by-Post (PbP) campaign that takes place entirely asynchronously in Discord chat. Ignore that date/time listings (those are for billing purposes only - you can contribute to the game 24/7). If you are unfamiliar with PbP campaigns, here are some of the things that make it unique from live sessions: 🛡️ Action is slower but more detailed and deliberate - expect scenes to play out over days rather than hours, but the narrative can be much richer. 🛡️ There is more focus on role play, but because of the pacing, there’s more time to plan your player’s contribution. 🛡️ Player initiative is prioritized - although the DM will ask for checks/saves, players are encouraged to roll themselves as the situation warrants.

About me
Hello! I’m a Dungeon Master with a passion for collaborative storytelling and roleplay, particularly in the play-by-post format. I am also a busy tech professional, educator, partner, and parent, but I enjoy the creative outlet of these games so much that I have crafted a way to participate in small chunks of time between responsibilities. My goal is to engage other people like me, where weekly 3-4 hour blocks of time are not readily available, to discover the world of play-by-posts.

Creating your character
With the DM's assistance, we will create characters in a virtual session 0 using the following guidelines: 🎲 Particular attention will be given to the character's background story and potential story arc. 🎲 We will use 2024 rules for character creation and can use any species/backgrounds in the materials I own and share. If the player has materials with species/backgrounds they would like to use, it is possible with DM permission. 🎲 Characters will start at level 1; ability stats can use a standard array, point-buy, or a customized rolling method in the discord server.
This campaign has started but is still in the very early stages and welcomes new players who are ready to jump in. Players are currently at level 3.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
🔹 Discord for posting. 🔹 D&D Beyond for character sheets. 🔹 An ability to write well and clearly in English - for PbP, some degree of writing skill is essential for you to be able to role-play your character well and in a way that is clear to others. 🔹 Some comfort with technology - we will use the Avrae dice roller (Discord bot), which requires some medium-level complexity commands. I will work with players unfamiliar with them, but there also needs to be a willingness to learn. You may also use Tupperbox for character aliasing if you’d like. 🔹 The ability to post to the channel once a day. It’s better if you can check in a couple of times a day, even if for a few minutes, to acknowledge that your PC is going along with the action. Obviously, there may be some exceptions to this (real-life needs, vacation, etc.), but it’s a good idea to keep others posted in out-of-character channels when possible.
