About the adventure
For context, the year is 1492 DR; there is a blight upon the land and that would be the main reason for you coming to Candlekeep. However, strange things keep occurring and they need to outsource figuring them out to you and your fellow party members. Your Avowed guide at Candlekeep, Irony, has asked for you to do several tasks already. (More details in the preparation for game and on the discord server.) This will be a quick one shot from one of the modules of Candlekeep.

About me
I enjoy playing dnd, have since I was a young girl, and started playing dnd again a bit when I was nineteen. When the pandemic started, I decided to look for one thing that I could do online...play dnd. I've been playing 5th edition rather consistently since then. Have completed three campaigns, and one of those was one I dmed for my friends. I decided to start dming professionally after hearing my friend and several other dm's at Dragon Con, about professional dming. I am currently dming a module campaign of Candlekeep with my own characters added and own story woven into the background of the game. I am brewing up a homebrew, with 5th edition rules mostly, but with a few things changed. I plan on seeking out other games that I am interested in and possibly dming them in the future; Call of Cthulu, Dragon Age, Doctor Who, and a few more. If your curious about my dm style, I love to role play it out and I do love combat. Not so much murder hoboing it out, but some times, it could get a little heavy with combat. My NPC's have backstories, and most of them are romancable but that means rolling some percentage die and taking risks...as we all do in love. My players have said that my games are a fair variety with a mix of laughs and good times.

Creating your character
Roll20 but you could also use Dndbeyond. Character creation: Be who you want to be. There are no banned races or classes, but if you're using homebrew materials for character creation, please let me know. If something seems too overpowered I will make suggestions to correct that. All character sheets must be on Roll20 or DND beyond. Or on a sheet online that syncs with vtt display so your rolls show up on Roll20. If not, please use one of the two. I'll assist with any questions you have but here are some excellent resources for character creation on Roll20 and DND beyond. You do not need a character sheet on both. Roll20:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOrzYGSvbNA I know what he says about dice rolling but if the dice gods decide to kick you down, then please feel free to use the standard array or point buy. I just like the option to get nice dice rolls. For the dice roll sets, click the 4d6 drop the lowest, and click it again to get another set. If you liked the first set better, you can manually input the information. You can choose starting equipment and starting gold. Dndbeyond: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2XN-B3D0Qg You can toggle content from all sources, but again if it’s homebrew or non content, let me know. Click Milestone for experience Click Encumbrance, feel the burn and weight of your loot goblining! XD For the dice roll sets, click roll and you can roll your two sets from here. It’ll have the option to apply it to the stats you want to set them at. If the dice gods kick you where it hurts, you can choose standard array or point buy. I will definitely say that if it looks painful, don’t suffer. The dice gods can be cruel. You can choose starting equipment and starting gold. When it comes to stats(charisma, strength, etc…), please roll two sets of scores and choose the set that best works. The charactermancer again, here is a good tutorial for using it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOrzYGSvbNA so since I allow for two rolls, you roll first and it’ll show up in chat, so roll again. If the first set is better, the drop down has a manuel entry option and you can input the numbers from the first set. No mix and matching between the two. XD If you feel like you need to respec(change your character a little bit) your character please do so. Just lemme know what changes you made and do so out of game. If you're playing an entirely new character, I would ask what would you like to do with your current one? With that we can give them a planned goodbye(death or different calling) or we can write them as an npc that is seen around candlekeep in case anything tragic should befall your character that you're about to make. Questions about your character What is your character fighting for? This is a critical question to ask yourself on why they’d keep going. Sometimes in an adventure, it might make sense to retire this character and go on with a new one. 1: What are your characters goals in his/her life? 2: As
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Need a mic, webcam is optional for my players. I would appreciate that players wanting to play would try to learn a bit before hand but am willing to teach. Yes, players will need to create characters. No they will not need to install software. Since it's online, no need for physical dice for this game. Players can choose to print out their character sheet if they would like, I understand seeing things on print can be different than staring at a screen sometimes.
What Jess brings to the table
