About the adventure

The city of Crosswell has a bit of a problem. Zombies. Lots of zombies. The Ruined Quarter has turned into an undead playground, with shambling corpses chasing terrified citizens through the streets. The paladins are spread too thin, the guards are woefully unprepared, and the city has one last hope: you. You may be untested, unpolished, and a little rough around the edges, but you’re exactly the kind of adventurers this city needs right now. As you battle your way through the chaos, you’ll uncover a bigger problem (because of course it’s bigger): a death cult called the Ashen Tears is behind the undead attacks. Their leader, the necromancer Mavrom, is down in the catacombs, trying to break the ancient wards protecting a cursed artifact known as Death’s Regalia. If she gets her bony hands on it, Crosswell won’t just be in trouble—it’ll be overrun with enough undead to make even the bravest paladin cry. This one-shot is perfect for players new to D&D. Learn the ropes as you hack zombies, unravel sinister plots, and maybe save a city from total doom. Will you step up as the quirky, unlikely heroes Crosswell didn’t know it needed, or will you end up joining the undead hordes in the Ruined Quarter? There’s only one way to find out!

About me

Welcome to my table, where fairy tales run wild, puzzles keep you guessing, and magical creatures lurk around every corner! I’m a game master who delights in conjuring immersive worlds filled with vivid details and endless surprises. A fierce believer in community, I welcome all adventurers—especially those who may not see themselves at every gaming table. With a dash of voice acting and a sprinkle of “rule of cool,” I’ll bend the rules just enough to keep things lively. Grab your sword, ready your spells, and let’s make some unforgettable chaos! Tabletop games have forever been a source of joy in my life, from early childhood memories of rolling dice for Yahtzee! to giggling over gameboards with school friends. As I got older, the balance changed, and I found myself gaming less and networking more. But when the world shifted after COVID, so did my friendships, and I found myself searching for a way to reconnect. In 2021, I started hosting game nights, and before I knew it, I was playing my first campaign in the Savage Worlds system. From the very first session, I was hooked—strategy, collaboration, and creativity all woven together? Perfection. But while Savage Worlds had its charms, I craved the grand adventures of the OG: Dungeons & Dragons. And the moment I made the switch, I knew I’d found my home—big stories, bigger adventures, and (thankfully) math that doesn’t make my head hurt.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters should be Level 1, and I’ll be available to work with players individually before the session as needed to help with set up. Stats and Resources: I suggest using point buy/standard array for stats. Allowed Content: All official D&D 5e books are welcome, and I’ll provide access to my D&D Beyond library for shared resources. Homebrew content is possible on a case-by-case basis—just check with me first. My goal is to make sure everyone starts the campaign feeling excited and prepared. Whether you’re a seasoned player or new to tabletop RPGs, I’ll guide you through the process and ensure your character is ready to shine!

Safety

How Essie creates a safe table

This is a one-shot, so I will be open to questions and discussions beforehand, but we'll rely on X, N, & O cards during play. Players can verbally call a halt or DM me, and I will stop play for a break so we can sync on issues before moving forward.
