About the adventure
COME ONE! COME ALL! TO THE WITCHLIGHT CAR-NI-VALLL!!! Beneath a sky painted in twilight hues of violet and gold, the Witchlight Carnival comes alive with a mesmerizing glow, its vibrant tents and whimsical attractions beckoning from the edge of your memory. Every eight years, this traveling extravaganza unfurls like a dream—a kaleidoscope of laughter, magic, and shadows that whispers tales of wonder and regret. As you stand near the ticket booth, the scent of sweet candied apples and the distant sound of laughter tug at your heartstrings, awakening a long-buried yearning. You catch glimpses of flickering lights and hear the melodic chimes of enchanted music, yet your thoughts drift back to that fateful childhood visit when you slipped past the entrance, wide-eyed and unbidden. The thrill of adventure collided with the aching weight of loss, a duality that has faded into the recesses of time. But now, as if a spell has been broken, the anguish of what you lost resurfaces, sharp and poignant, like a lingering note of a forgotten song. Nearby, faces flicker in and out of focus—kindred spirits who share a similar burden, their gazes heavy with unspoken stories, their hearts echoing the same hollow ache. You see in their eyes your own reflection of wistfulness and resolve. Perhaps fate has intertwined your paths, each of you drawn back to this enchanting realm for a reason, each with a fragment of a past that binds you together. As the sounds of the carnival crescendo, the enchanting call of Mister Witch and Mister Light dances on the breeze, hinting at the intricate tapestry of mystery and magic that awaits within the carnival's depths. The time has come to reclaim what was lost, to weave the threads of your destinies together, and to confront the specters of your past. Will you gather the courage to step inside the shimmering gates of the Witchlight Carnival and embark on an extraordinary journey to recover not just what you once lost, but perhaps, to discover who you truly are? The adventure is just beginning, and the carnival turns for you once more.

About me
✦ GM Cora Kelley ✦ “Stories spun from shadow and fate.” Welcome, traveler. I’m GM Cora Kelley, a storyteller who thrives in the spaces between light and darkness — where choice, mystery, and emotion intertwine. I’ve been running professional games for about three years, specializing in dark cinematic campaigns that emphasize roleplay, atmosphere, and connection over simple dice rolls. I currently run Dungeons & Dragons and Vampire: The Requiem, with a deep love for gothic horror, noir themes, and emotional storytelling. Whether it’s surviving the frozen dread of Icewind Dale, uncovering corruption in Ebonridge, or walking the misty streets of Curse of Strahd, I strive to create worlds that feel alive — and stories that stay with you long after the session ends. At my table, everyone is welcome — from first-time adventurers to seasoned players. The only requirements are respect, curiosity, and a willingness to engage with the story and your fellow players. My focus is always on genuine roleplay and collaborative storytelling, using combat only when it enhances the narrative. Players often describe my games as creative, inclusive, and immersive, with a strong sense of atmosphere and personal connection. My background in psychology and peer-to-peer mentoring helps me tailor experiences that make players feel seen, supported, and part of something meaningful. If you’re looking for a Game Master who values emotion as much as excitement — who will help you build a story worth remembering — then step behind the veil, and let’s begin your chronicle.

Creating your character
Players will start at level 1 on this campaign. Characters will be made using the point buy system. The only ban I have is for Keen Mind (2014), and it's for the same reason as most other GMs. It doesn't reward note taking and far too much of a crutch. If you are unsure, please feel free to ask me. We will have a session 0 to iron out any issues or details, as well as go over some extra bits that will be important later. Session 0 will be free. It will also help you decide if I'm the right dm for you.
Party is at Level 4. Comp is as follows: Tabaxi (male) - Artificer/Wizard Orc (female) - Cleric/Sorcerer Goblin (male) - Bard Astral Elf (male) Paladin/Warlock
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will need a working microphone, a free DnD Beyond account, a free Roll20 account, and a free Discord account so they can access all the content I will provide. I also suggest note taking as I offer inspiration points on a successful recap of the previous session. This is to player discretion as well. Discord, Roll20, and DnD Beyond link will all be provided before session.
What GM Cora Kelley brings to the table
I will provide all maps, visuals, and audio via Discord and Roll20. Players will also be able to join the campaign on DnD Beyond, as it will allow for quality of life to view each others character sheets and synergize! (Secrets can be left secrets!) Players will be able to bring their personalized backstory and I will work with them to make sure we can get it worked into the adventure as seamlessly as possible. I will try as hard as I can to not stifle creativity, as long as it is reasonable. I do generally stick to Rules as Written, but I am a FIRM believer in FUN over RULES. Now that doesn't mean the rule book is gone, but again I will put my player in mind when judging a ruling based on verbiage. Players are more than welcome to bring their personalized art, as I am happy to "create" custom tokens for them to use on Roll20.

How GM Cora Kelley creates a safe table
***All content warning items listed are possible but not necessarily guarantees. I've played through the campaign myself and just wanted to provide as many possibilities that I have come across.*** In Session 0 we will go over the safety tools in more detail, but in a general sense, the various tools will be employed in whatever manner the players need. If there is an individual need that needs met, we can discuss it privately and see what we can do to resolve the matter. The table is intended to be a place to enjoy yourself and if that is not happening, please let me know.
