About the adventure
"Curse of Strahd" is a gothic horror adventure for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, where mystery, danger, and dark fantasy await. Set in the mist-shrouded land of Barovia, players find themselves trapped in a cursed realm ruled by the cunning and immortal vampire lord, Strahd von Zarovich. Barovia is a land of haunting beauty and grim secrets. Its villages, ancient ruins, and shadowed forests hide powerful artifacts, tragic histories, and dangerous foes. At its heart lies Castle Ravenloft, Strahd’s foreboding fortress, where your ultimate fate may be decided. Key features of the adventure include: The Fortunes of Ravenloft: A mysterious fortune-teller, will reveal the location of key allies, treasures, and Strahd himself through a card reading. Each campaign is unique, shaped by these fateful draws. Exploration and Choices: Investigate eerie towns, solve dark mysteries, and uncover Barovia’s hidden lore as you decide how to face its many challenges. A Living World: Barovia reacts to your actions, with memorable NPCs—both friend and foe—who shape the unfolding story. Strahd von Zarovich: A villain of unmatched depth and charisma who will test your resolve at every turn. This adventure blends chilling atmosphere, rich storytelling, and high-stakes exploration with moments of heroism and hope. Your decisions and bravery will determine not just your survival, but the fate of Barovia itself. Will you rise to challenge the vampire lord and free Barovia from its curse? If you are one of the first people to join the campaign. Feel free to reach out to me and message directly about modifying the start time. I could easily adjust the start time by a couple hours if it aligns more with your schedules!

Creating your character
Character Creation: Takes place before your first session. Stat Rolling: Roll 4d6, drop the lowest die. Complete two sets of rolls to choose from. Stats are rolled through a program on the Discord server (link in the description). Starting Level: Level 3. Level Progression: Milestone with the capstone level taking place at 12th level. Allowed Content: All Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition material is permitted. 2024 content takes precedence over older, legacy versions. Character Immersion: I will work individually with each player to tie their character's story and background into the world for a deeper, more immersive experience.
Our band of adventurers is just wrapping up their many plot threads in the village of Vallaki and are getting ready to head westward towards the walled city of Krezk. This is a perfect time for new players to join in! Party consists of a cleric, ranger, paladin, and monk.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
🎲 What You Need as a Player: 🖥️ A computer or device for virtual play. You will need a D&D Beyond, Discord, and a Roll20 Account 🎧 Microphone/Headset for clear communication through discord. 📡 Stable internet connection for smooth sessions. ✨ Imagination and a willingness to immerse yourself in the story! That’s it! I’ll handle the rest—maps, music, and bringing Barovia to life.
What Caleb brings to the table
D&D Beyond Content: All content I own on D&D Beyond will be shared with players through a shared campaign. Roll20 Materials: I do not own materials on Roll20, so players will need to provide their own resources if they wish to build their character directly on that platform. Beyond20 Extension: I recommend using the Beyond20 browser extension to seamlessly transfer rolls between D&D Beyond and Roll20 for smooth gameplay. The Beyond20 extension will be linked in the Discord server for easy access

How Caleb creates a safe table
Session 0: Safety Tools and Player Comfort During Session 0, we will discuss safety tools to ensure that everyone feels comfortable, respected, and able to fully enjoy the game. This includes: Lines and Veils: Lines are topics or themes that will not appear in the game at all (hard boundaries). Veils are topics that may appear but will be “faded to black” or handled off-screen (soft boundaries). Each player will have an opportunity to share their preferences privately or with the group. The X-Card: At any point during play, if something makes a player uncomfortable, they can say “X” or use an agreed signal to pause the game. The scene will be adjusted or skipped without explanation required. Open Door Policy: Players are free to take breaks or step away from the game if needed—no questions asked. Session Check-Ins: I will check in periodically during and between sessions to ensure everyone is still comfortable and enjoying the content. This conversation creates a safe and respectful environment where everyone can engage with the story fully while knowing their boundaries will be honored. Your fun and comfort are my top priority.
