Meet the Game Master
About me
Hi I’m Maddy! I’m a TTRPG Content Creator and professional Actual Play Game Master and Player. I’ve been working in this industry full time for the past 3-4 years and I would love to play with you! I’m a Game Master who specialises in roleplay and exploring who your character is amongst a world of mayhem. I’m ALWAYS down to clown and ready to hear your most crazy and creative ideas! I believe in facilitating a game that lets each of my player’s strengths and creativity shine. Lets play x "Maddy is by far one of the most talented Game Masters I've ever met. She works carefully with individual players to root them in the world before the game starts, and ensures that everyone has the chance to experience unique little details that are personalised to them. Plus her design and potrayal of NPCs is unparalleled, and makes the world feel real. It's a priviledge to have been at her table." - Diana (@dianaoftherose)

Creating your character
I encourage players to think a little bit about a possible character idea they have (class, possible vibe) and bring it to session 0. Then I will chew everything out with people individually in DMs (though please send me fleshed out ideas or a list that I can respond to- sometimes I don't have time for extensive back and forth). You'll be starting at level 1! Just in general with Classes and Subclasses I'm gonna say no homebrew- races I can be persuaded on. Characters will be created on D&D Beyond, Point Buy or Standard Array, Milestone Level up, fuck encumbrance! You can find out a little bit about the module online but please don't read it :((( Spoilers :(((
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need a webcam, mic, and appropriate internet connection. I recommend a laptop or computer over a phone as you will sometimes need to have multiple windows open. Please have a D&D Beyond, Discord, and Roll20 Account (no payments required). We will only be using Roll20 for the map aspect, as I know its a learning curve, so don't worry too much about learning to use it. Come up with some possible character ideas and research a lil bit about the module to be ultimately prepared! Though I will provide a Player document before session 0 with all the info you need, reading this will be a requirement.
What Maddy (Maddaloon) brings to the table
I have the source book! I also have nearly all of the races, subclasses and feats available on D&D Beyond. I have a master subscription so I can share my resources to everyone. I'm an Actual Play DM as well as a home DM so I pride myself on my silly voices and improv skills. I also love to use music! I ALWAYS embrace rule of cool, but also love to see how we can strategise and play within the set rules. I love crunchy combats that require players to make a chat without me so they can strategise behind my back lmao. I expect a lot of commitment from my players in a roleplay sense- not in the sense of having a little social anxiety with roleplaying with new players (I get that don't worry) I want you to be deeply entrenched in your character! I want you to be able to yap about them for hours! I want to be able to come up with cool theories about their psyche!!! I just want you to care so much about your character and how they fit in this world, and that will translate onto the table. GIVE ME PASSION!!! That being said- I'm a goofy DM. Please bring the goof but also know when to lock tf in for some traumatic backstory reveals.
Homebrew rules
-Inspiration stacks and is a reroll. You can gift inspiration to other players and spend how ever many you want in one go. (For example you might horde them and spend six in a row trying to help another player succeed a saving throw). You can spend them after you know the result, (fail or success) but not before you are aware of any consequences (the damage or effect taken). -Drinking potions is a bonus action. Feeding them to someone else is an action and you must be within 5ft of them. If you drink a healing potion as an action, you take the full amount of healing. -Nat 20 initiative means you go first no matter what, nat 1 means you go last no matter what. -Deciding who goes first when you roll the same as another person is who has the highest dex, then rollies if they are the same. -Critical hit means you double the dice rolled and add up the total, then add your bonuses on top. -If you are hasted you can cast two spells in a turn, but only a cantrip and a levelled spell otherwise. -You can counterspell someone who counters your own spell if you have the reaction handy. -When levelling up, if you choose to roll hp you cannot roll lower than your con modifier. -Familiars and pets take their initiative after you, but any other summoned creatures can roll their own initiative.

Safety
How Maddy (Maddaloon) creates a safe table
How I do safety tools is that I send out the RPG consent form and then collate the red and yellow flagged topics into a completely anonymous 'Lines and Veils' list. This list will be a collaborative Google Doc that anyone can add to through out the entire campaign (triggers change sometimes). This campaign is heavy but I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable; if you join this campaign I'll assume you can handle a little gore but I am ALWAYS down to change parts of a module or my own prep to suit my players. The X, N, & O cards will be messaged texts to me personally or into the chat; otherwise if people leave the call we will call to a pause if you need a quick out or I don't see a message. I will call for one 10 minute break in the middle. The debrief is usually a mix between a quick chat when we call to a close (understanding that people might need to bounce after we end) and over text.
