About the adventure

All good stories end the same way: the heroes triumph, the villains perish, and all is well. But what if the 'heroes' in question are opportunists going place to place in search of treasure they have no right to? Then the best story is watching them descend (physically and mentally) as they try to steal what's not theirs - after all, the forest does not want them there. A long time ago, a giant, once the most powerful wizard in the land, was struck down by the gods themselves for his hubris. Legends say the giant engraved a rune on his heart, one that rendered him immortal. Even more legends say those brave enough to venture into the giant's carcass and take the rune for themselves are promised immortality. You and your fellow treasure hunters have made your way here to claim the rune and all it promises. Only time will tell what fates will befall them. This is a simple starter scenario for players of all experience levels, so feel free to join even if you're unfamiliar with the system! Please note: Trophy Dark is a play-to-lose game, meaning your treasure hunters are doomed to despair one way or another. We play to enjoy the story of how they get there.

About me

Hi, I'm Sonder, I use she/her pronouns, and I've been playing and GM-ing TTRPGs for about 5 years, and designing them for about 2. I love collaborative storytelling and greatly enjoy tailoring narratives for characters. I've run a variety of TTRPGs spanning various systems and genres such as Monster of the Week, Masks, The Between, Absurdia, and a variety of other PbtAs. I'm also familiar with similar systems such as FitD, Belonging Outside Belonging, Rooted in Trophy, and the Resistance system. I would be more than happy to tailor any of these games to suit your table's needs! I'm also open to running any other rules-light TTRPGs of a similar nature, so feel free to reach out to me anytime!

Creating your character

Upon signing up for the game, you will receive an invite to the Discord server where the game will be hosted. There you will find a player resources channel with a Google Drive with the fillable character sheets, lines and veils document, and available playbooks. Characters will start at the base creation level. Feel free to ping me at any time if you have any questions!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Please be sure to have a Discord account and a working microphone as the game will be over Discord voice chat. While characters must be created before the game starts, it's perfectly alright if you're not familiar with the rules as I will go over them as necessary.
