Tales from the Yawning Portal - Forge of Fury

Tales from the Yawning Portal - Forge of Fury

Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign

About the adventure

Two centuries ago, the great dwarf smith Durgaddin the Black and his clan were driven from their home by a horde of fierce orcs and trolls. They plundered the dwarves' ancestral halls and slew all they could catch. Fleeing his enemies, Durgaddin led the destitute remnants of his clan in search of a new home. After years of wandering, the dwarves discovered a great cavern system beneath the Stone Tooth: a rugged, forested hill crowned by a bare, rocky crag. There Durgaddin and his followers founded the stronghold of Khundrukar. About a century ago, a member of Durgaddin's clan was captured by a powerful orc tribe during a raid, and the orcs learned of their enemy's hidden stronghold. The orc chieftains raised a great army and marched on Khundrukar. In a hard-fought siege lasting months, the orcs tunneled around the dwarven defenses. When they finally stormed the place, they put all within to the sword, then carried off wagonloads of booty. In the years since the great battle, various creatures have occupied the stronghold, and used the place as a base for their raids. At other times, the caverns have lain empty except for the mindless and bloodthirsty monsters that haunt such places. Today legends of Durguddin's Vengeance (or the Smith's War) and the extraordinary blades the dwarves forged in anger still surface from time to time in the lands near the Stone Tooth. A level 3 adventure from Tales from the Yawning portal using both 2014 and 2024 rules.

What can I say this is one of the better DMs in the game! He nails it with almost no low points and keeps the story exciting and focused. For someone who has atention Deficit, I am never bored whatsoever. He leaves you so much to think about between. I cannot wait for gameday with him. Great sense of humour, Great balance, very challenging fights. total Rule of Cool guy, prepared, good voices. I love this guy!!! Challenging!!!!! His battles are tough when they need to be! IF you love combat with some decent roleplay with no dull moments and great, great plots that can go many ways. THis is your man all the way. Ive played for 35 years dnd, he could put on a clinic to other Dms to show how it should be done!

Drew is a great DM who's quick thinking when it comes to PC creativity and knows the systems of both 5e and roll20 very well. Outside the game, he's been amicable with reschedule requests and is always great at communicating. All in all a 10/10 experience

How to prepare

Players will need a working microphone, a free Roll20 account, and a Discord account. A basic idea of both the rules of D&D and how to use Roll20 is useful, but not needed. The basics can be covered in Session 0.

What I provide

I will provide my players with - Access to the PHB (2014 and 2024), XGE,TCE, and MotM, in addition players will have access to dozens of new races and sub-classes from the Midgard Heroes Handbook, Tome of Heroes, and Southlands Players Guide. Dynamically lit maps that are backed by soundtracks. Detailed session notes provided after every session. More than 35 years of experience as a Dungeon Master.

Gameplay details

Players can feel free to interrupt the game at any time in order to discuss a situation that makes them uncomfortable that hasn't been covered in the Content Warnings. Beyond that I will happily discuss any other issues away from the game. Session 0 will cover character creation and group culture (agreed upon rules within our group). We will also spend time going over the basic controls of Roll20 and the character sheets for those that need it. Character creation will use the Charactermancer on Roll20. Standard Array will be used for all characters.
