About the adventure
This is a three-hour playtest of a new fantasy dungeon-adventure game. I'm looking for 3 to 5 players to help me work out bugs/practice running the game. You'll play as a group of rogue tomb-delvers hired by a scholar to help him explore a long-forgotten tunnel complex that houses hidden dangers. There are chicken people. There are mutants. It's that kind of game. Any level of experience with RPGs is great - this is a game designed to be easy for beginners (I hope), but I'd love to get experienced gamers' opinions as well - it's supposed to be for everyone. Here's a link to a handout with introduction, character creation, etc. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1QFHhTSD9EJnpChKcOCCiu0cg9rt8OUCa?usp=drive_link

About me
I've been playing and running RPGs for 30 years. My first priority is providing a fun, safe, collaborative environment where we work together to create a story where YOUR characters are the protagonists. I have a background in theatre and creative writing, and I rely heavily on improvisation. RPGs are the most fun when nobody knows what is going to happen next - that's why we play to find out. I'm looking for players looking to have fun, make friends, and have some laughs at the end of the day. Join us!

Creating your character
We will make characters together at the start of the session. It will be a very simple matter of randomly rolling six stats, picking a name, a token, and we start playing. If you have a particular look you want for your character, there are instructions in the handout on how to make your own custom token (it's really easy and free). I'll be on Discord ready to answer any questions you have leading up to the game, but as long as you show up on time, have a computer, a mic, and a relatively quiet place to play, you should be good to go!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need a mic of some sort so that we can hear you, as well as a way to hear me! Other than that, internet access is pretty much all you need. I use Discord for voice chat and to communicate, so you'll need a free account for that. There is a short handout that gives you an introduction to the game - if you are curious about what you will be playing, you are welcome to read it, but the game can be played without having read it beforehand. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1QFHhTSD9EJnpChKcOCCiu0cg9rt8OUCa?usp=drive_link We'll make characters together at the beginning of play.
What Josh Ervin (Ironic Hero Games) brings to the table
I will provide everything you need to play the game. I will have tokens you can choose from, but there are instructions in the handout on how to make your own. We will be using Owlbear Rodeo for a VTT - the character sheet, dice rolling, initiative, etc. are all located in the VTT - the only other tab you need open is Discord, which we use for voice chat. If you don't know the words, "VTT", "Owlbear Rodeo", or "Discord", (or any others) that's fine - as long as you can click on a link, you can play.

How Josh Ervin (Ironic Hero Games) creates a safe table
We will go over Lines and Veils before play, and my X, N, and O cards are messaged. I don't foresee the game going into any material that isn't cliche for the usual Dungeons and Dragons game - fighting monsters, dodging traps, etc. One thing not included on the list of content warnings is "Darkness" - if you have a fear of the dark, this game takes into account light, and if the torchebearer is taken down, the lights go out and you'll be in a situation where the screen goes black and you can't see your enemies (but they can see you) which I know could be triggering to someone. There will probably also be a missing child featured - since this is a game of flesh-eating monsters roaming dark tunnels, this means a few bad rolls or player neglect could result in child endangerment or even death (think Aliens, Jurassic Park).
