About the adventure
Waterdeep: Dragonheist is an urban (for D&D) adventure set in the crown jewel of Faerûn, the titular Waterdeep! Think of the city as a high-fantasy New York City or Tokyo; anything and everything an adventurer or commoner could possibly dream up can likely be found or outsourced within these walls. What's more, the previous Open Lord (a public leader/representative known as Raenar Neverember) had embezzled half a million gold pieces and hidden them somewhere in the city. Rumors are afoot that the most powerful crime kingpins are already in motion to recover the fortune...can you beat them to the punch? This adventure has a follow-up adventure: Dungeon of the Mad Mage, that aims to delve deep beneath the city to the treacherous Undermountain. This second act will take players all the way from level 6 through level 20! Maybe even beyond! Themes for the first act of this adventure include: political intrigue, subterfuge, heists (of course), and careful dancing around the airtight law enforcement within the prestigious city.

About me
Salutations! I am a 20-something mid-western creative (how quirky) hoping to inspire souls and hearts through storytelling and self-discovery. Roleplaying and getting into character were paramount to my Slip'n'Slide (headfirst) into a TTRPG rabbit hole; I adore creating interpersonal narratives between characters, both played and non-played. All that being said: I am an avid purveyor of drama and a lover of horror! Both will be bountiful at this table.

Creating your character
Characters will be made in a D&D Beyond campaign, beginning at level 1. Use Point Buy or Standard Array for stats. HP is max at level 1, and can be rolled or averaged afterward. Take a free feat! (Variant Human does not benefit from 2 feats in this way) Please only use official or partnered content. If you have ideas for homebrew, talk to me first! If you want to play a Twilight domain cleric, talk to me first. This will prompt a certain event that the whole party must agree to. **About rolling dice: use whatever method suits you. I roll physical dice and trust my players to be honest if they choose to do the same. Digital is also perfectly fine!
Please note that although the listing says to make a level 1 character, we are presently in the Dungeon of the Mad Mage adventure, so characters will start at whatever level the party is. Presently, that is level 8! Current level 8 party consists of: Aasimar Grim Surgeon Rogue Human Moon Druid Fire Genasi Battlesmith Artificer

How Kilgannon creates a safe table
I keep a Lines and Veils document with all players responses handy just in case. While the L/V themselves will be known to the party, whomever they belong to will remain anonymous. We will have a session 0! In my experience, these go pretty quickly, so we can likely start gameplay same-day. We will have introductions, generate character ideas, set expectations for each other, etc. If at any point in the game, you need the scene to change or pause the game, DM me an N or X respectively. I prioritize your well-being and fun above everything else. I do enforce an open-door policy. You can come to me about anything, in or out of game. I will listen, and if I can, offer some aid. Times are tough. We will have a 15-minute break (this is a flexible duration) halfway through the session.
