About the adventure

A Play-By-Post Star Wars story set during the Galactic Civil War! It is a time of civil war. Six months have passed since Rebel fighters, striking from a hidden base, destroyed the Death Star, dealing a devastating blow to the Galactic Empire. In the Outer Rim, a fledgling fighter squadron has been assembled aboard the scrap frigate Cobalt Spike. Using salvaged mercenary and Republic-era fighters, they must help the Alliance build a new base and establish a foothold in the sector, opposed by Imperial fighters and vicious pirates alike. BANTHA SQUADRON is a campaign of starfighter combat during the Galactic Civil War, inspired by starfighter sims like X-Wing and TIE Fighter and books like the Rogue Squadron series. Fighter combat will use some homebrew rules to make the struggle more cinematic and friendly to the PBP format. Jump in your X-Wing and lock on target! Rules for Star Wars and for PBP games can be taught as needed. You don't need to be a Star Wars expert. LGBTQ+ players welcome and encouraged!

About me

I'm a long-time roleplayer and GM. I love running games and taking players through exciting story-driven adventures with cool moments and fun action while weaving in impactful moments for their characters. I'm a game designer by day and have worked on properties like Star Wars, Marvel, and Lord of the Rings, but I also love building new worlds to explore. I play a lot of different RPGs and I'm always looking to try more. I'd love to share some adventures with you!

All of my games with Brandon have been on time and well produced! He does a ton of prep work to make getting into the game and having fun as simple and easy as possible. Almost as easy as some video game matchmaking system with documents, Discord and other resources ready to go. He's knowledgeable about the games and the settings, so you can bounce ideas off him for all sorts of things. His style of GMing allows for a wide range of options to tackle situations. If something sounds like it should work; it probably will! He prioritizes giving you a fun, intriguing experience that grounds you in the world and fully let's you explore your character!

Brandon runs a fun and fair game. His creativity knows no bounds and he is very knowledgeable in multiple systems. He is skilled in running games with players of all skill levels. The game nights I've been included in have been a great time and I look forward to many more.

Brandon runs a welcoming, diverse table that inspires collaboration. Players are encouraged to come up with out of the box solutions and a cool idea or rich narrative beat will be given its due even if the mechanics would otherwise struggle to support it. Brandon knows the lore of many genre settings: Star Wars, Star Trek, Power Rangers, Transformers, and more and leans into the unique feeling of those settings when crafting stories.

Character creation
Creating your character

Players will create characters following the standard rules for Age of Rebellion, with a few bonuses thrown in to fit the theme of the game, while being recruited into a Rebel fighter squadron.

The current party

Join a ragtag group of Rebel pilots working their way up from ill-equipped rookies to heroes of the Rebellion.

What Brandon brings to the table

I am a professional game writer and have run play-by-post games in the past. I've designed official Star Wars games and written for this system. I'll give you some great narrative to start and offer fun characters to engage with and stories to build on your character's personal journey. I will teach rules as needed, and run the Discord server where we play. In addition to serving as the game master guiding things along, I'll also moderate posts to ensure everything stays within players' limits. I will also set up a Roll20 if the group wants a VTT to use for things like combat.

Safety
How Brandon creates a safe table

Everyone will fill out an anonymous Lines and Veils survey before joining the game. The full list of Lines and Veils will be maintained where everyone can refer back to them. If anything in the moment makes someone uncomfortable, they can throw an X in chat or contact me directly if they don't want to do so publicly. This should be a fun, chill experience, so making sure everyone feels safe and comfortable is important!
