About the adventure

Immersed in Darkness, hungry for freedom, the spotlight shines on you this loathsome night... Last Dance at Renauld's is a one-shot module with pre-filled character sheets available for new and experienced players. Vampire: The Masquerade is primarily a roleplaying system, with a focus on politically advantageous alliances across clan lines and subterfuge to accomplish your character's own hidden agendas. Last Dance assumes you and your companions have been planning a "salon for the ages" on behalf of your patron and sire, Renauld - who only this morning turned up dead with a stake through his undead heart. But the show - it must go on. It's your job to throw the party of the century, without anyone finding out the truth of Renauld's gruesome fate: and to silence any who speak out against your recently departed patron. If you succeed, you may be able to parley an alliance with powerful Elder vampires in the city, or even claim a share of Renauld's vast wealth and influence for your own...

About me

[You open the gilt-edged scroll cautiously, all too aware of the fragility of the ancient paper in your hands. Upon the inner surface, the message gleams dully, obviously imbued with power - though, it does appear too rusty to have been a tannin-based ink... It reads: "The shadows welcome you. Arm yourself and face the night."] ... Okay, I'm dramatic. THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE HERE FOR THOUGH! Hi! I'm Neysa! I'm a member of the streaming group Team Bonus Action (find us on Twitter, Twitch, Instagram, and Youtube!) and I write prolifically, including a campaign I'm currently building out for publication. [That campaign has now been played by two in-person groups, both of whom completed the adventure after 1+ years!] I have access to all of the official books on PDF. I'm a hardcore Critter, and have all the dreams of being the next Aabriya Iyengar or Matt Mercer, or some unholy-yet-wholesome fusion of the two (with just a pinch of Taliesin Jaffe for good measure). I have been a DM for 4 years. I have encountered troublemaking goliaths, cautious paladins, and the mellowest of druids. I have Mastered for teenaged players and single mothers, college students and entrepreneurs. Now, to the nitty-gritty: I offer D&D 5e, Vampire the Masquerade, Monster of the Week, and homebrew/in-playtest games of my own creation. I ADORE homebrew and non-official character creations [within reason, don't go too crazy, friends], and I will be happy to introduce your group to my own Realm of Zrail or an official world. I also run one-shots in all of the above settings, but I specialize in longer-form campaigns. I love letting my PCs start at Level 3 for more fun faster, though sometimes we will still be babies at Level 1. I'm not out to murder my PCs: I want to see you succeed, to explore these worlds and discover (or become) these legends yourself. I'll see you all in the shadows, friends. Come along; they won't linger forever!

Character creation

Creating your character

Last Dance at Renauld's include pre-filled character sheets on the Alchemy platform; we will take about 30 minutes at the start of session to go over the available characters, select your own, and fill in the few final details (name, secrets, etc). If you need help learning the Alchemy platform, we can schedule a mini-tutorial in Discord before session time to ensure you're up to spec.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You should expect to use at least a microphone, though webcam will be preferred. You should also have an active Discord account, and you will need to have a free Alchemy account before the start of session to log-in and participate. If you'd like to read over the VTM Fifth Ed. rules before the session, access to the full materials will be provided through my Discord. Otherwise, this is intended to be a starter one-shot, introducing you to the world and some of the basic rules and mechanics. This is NOT intended to be a full, intensive, in-depth VTM crash course; it's more about the fun, using the provided VTM framework and lore.

What Shadow Neysa brings to the table

This game will be hosted on AlchemyRPG's VTT, courtesy of Start Playing's partnership with them! Alchemy is a "scene" VTT more than a map-maker, but it is fully incorporated with the pre-made character sheets for this one-shot. If you need a quick tutorial on Alchemy before the session starts, you can scheduled on a case-by-case basis at no charge. For this adventure, I provide: - Access to Last Dance at Renauld's content on Alchemy - Ambient, scene-specific music and visual effects - A Rule-of-Cool and Story-over-Stereotypes experience, full of flavor and loose on stickler-ship

Safety

How Shadow Neysa creates a safe table

The Content Warning tags reflect content that will or might show up - Vampire: The Masquerade does focus primarily on less-than-savory and not-at-all-decent characters and plot-lines. Your characters and most of the major NPCs will be Vampires with less-than-human morals and ethics, or humans enthralled by the vampires (willingly or dubiously so). We will have a fully open-door policy throughout the session; if you feel uncomfortable or need to leave at any time, there will be no penalty. Refunds or vouchers toward future games in another system will be discussed on a case-by-case basis. Lines and Veils for my entire server and individual games are maintained in a shared Google Doc with full edit functionality for all players at any time. At least one bio-break is included during the planned session time; additional breaks will be allowed as needed for mental health maintenance. A debrief discussion, including Stars and Wishes and mutual aftercare/happy-thoughts, will finish the last 10 minutes or so of the session.
