About the adventure

The entire world was shocked by the tragedy which followed. Now a new larger expedition will brave the mysteries of the icy continent. How credible were Miskatonic University reports of fossilized remains of ancient life forms predating all known terrestrial life? Will your expedition return in glory or tragedy? Go on an epic journey to the edge of the earth. You will discover the secrets surrounding the previous expedition, explore the remnants of an ancient civilization, and confront terrors from beyond space and time. A slow burn horror campaign in the vein of "The Thing" or "The Terror", "Beyond the Mountains of Madness" is a classic Lovecraftian adventure. It will immerse you in an escalating situation where research into a mystery ends in a harrowing fight for survival. About me
A 30-year veteran with a specialty in horror games and atmosphere-rich experiences. Hi there, I'm Casey. Introduced to AD&D in the early nineties, I've been captivated by RPGs for well on 30 years now. I've played and run everything from Cyberpunk to Pathfinder (see below), but my real passion is for horror games: Call of Cthulhu, Vampire: The Masquerade, Kult: Divinity Lost and many more. To that end, I've spent countless hours developing skills in pacing and description to deliver an immersive and engaging horror experience. However, it's not all escalating tension. Many sessions are spent investigating mysteries and developing character arcs. After all, horror isn't horror when there's nothing at stake. And don't forget levity. There's nothing like a good laugh to break the tension. Creating your character
♦️We'll make characters together during our Session 0 ♦️You will be playing a member of an Antarctic expedition. You will choose from a variety of professions appropriate to that role. ♦️You can then create your character with the profession you chose. ♦️You will also have a backup character that you may choose from a list of NPCs, or create yourself if you prefer. You'll be given opportunities to play this secondary character in addition to your primary PC. ♦️The optional "Spending Luck" rule will be used in this campaign. ♦️I'll provide on onboarding session for players joining after the game starts.
