About the adventure
A Dark Lord lies trapped by his own hubris, ruling over his domain with an iron fist. The twice-cursed object of his desire reaches out through the Mists of Dread, praying for an end to the torment that surrounds the lands of Barovia. In this adventure, your party are pulled through the Mists into the Domains of Dread. Desperately seeking not only a way home, but also a means to end the Curse of the Vampire Lord Strahd for good. If you're looking for a fun, inclusive, little spooky, little silly campaign adventure then come join me as I lead both veteran and new players through the epic ride that is Curse of Strahd. You can expect atmospheric play, heavy emphasis on roleplay and character interactions, voiced NPCs and much much more. Play happens via Discord, DnDBeyond and AboveVTT.

About me
I’ve always been drawn to the worlds of fantasy and sci-fi, from playing classics like Baldur's Gate and Diablo to devouring epic novels. That passion evolved into a love for tabletop RPGs, where I’ve been crafting and running games since 2015. What I love most about being a GM is drawing players into rich, immersive stories where they truly feel like they matter. My games are all about atmosphere, roleplaying, and creating an environment that pulls you in—whether it’s through voices, carefully chosen music, or the world we build together. I tailor each session to my players, whether you’re looking for something spooky, funny, or serious. My goal is to make sure everyone is invested in their characters and the story we're creating. I’ve been fortunate to play and run games with some of the greats in the TTRPG community, including Cynthia Marie (LA by Night), Aliza Pearl (Clear Skies), Bonnie Gordon (Star Trek Prodigy), Megan McCauley, Josephine McAdam (LA by Night) and Jason Charles Miller. I’m also a published TTRPG author, having written the Johannesburg supplement for the official Altered Carbon TTRPG from Hunter's Entertainment and I bring that experience to every game I run. If you’re looking for a game where your character’s choices shape the narrative, where the atmosphere is palpable, and where collaboration is key, then I’d love to roll some dice with you.

Creating your character
Players will be starting at level 1 for this adventure. We will do character creation cooperatively, which includes rolling for stats. All of this will happen during a session 0. If it's your first time, don't stress too much as I will explain how everything works for you step-by-step. Feel free to come with some back story, but know that it isn't fully required if you don't have one. I will say that I love to try and weave in player stories into the narrative as much as I can. There is also a narrative start to the adventure. Your characters will already know each other, and be working together. On DnDBeyond, I have access to the 2014 PHB, and will have the 2024 one soon. I also have Monsters of the Multiverse. However, there is no restriction in Class or Species as long as it is from a book that is on DnDBeyond.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You'll need a mic, webcam, and have a Discord username and be on DnDBeyond. Also, you'll need to install the AboveVTT extension on your web browser.
What Adrian brings to the table
I am a big fan of ambience and atmosphere, so you can expect mood music and combat music to be used while we adventure on AboveVTT. I am a huge believer in Theater of the Mind play, so you can expect a mix of that and then combat done on the virtual tabletop. I like this style to really help players get into their RP as much as they can. If you like voiced NPCs and monster noises, then I am definitely your guy - and I encourage you to embrace your inner voice actor, too. This is a safe place where you get to explore. Have fun with it! While I love the rules of the game, there are 100% moments where the Rule of Cool trumps all. So, there are times where spells will be able to do something a little unexpected. Flavour makes things spicy, and I am all about it. I love combat to be as snappy as it can be, where players can narrate their actions if that is something that they want to try and do - as I will do it more often than not. But, don't be afraid to try things out! Especially if you're learning. I do like when players have read through their spells as much as possible. But, I don't expect you to be an encyclopedia. Most importantly, you and I are here to have a good time. Trust me with scenes. Know that I have gone through your safety needs, and you're in good hands.

How Adrian creates a safe table
I like to run a session 0 where we would go over the lines and veils that have been presented by players, and the document for that will be out to PCs before that session. I also like to use a variation on the Script Change system, and the system that is in-built into the Kids on Bikes TTRPG. Which means that during play, there are specific phrases that a player may use which would let me know how to proceed is something comes up for them. I will cover all of this during the session 0.
