About the adventure
Call of Cthulhu : Horror on the Orient Express. "Three identical men found dead in the same room of the Chelsea Arms Hotel. Each of them stabbed through the heart. The unexplained killings see the investigators embark on a thousand-mile journey on the legendary rail service to Constantinople—the Gateway of the Orient." Set [mostly] in the 1920’s era. This is considered an all-time classic adventure for Call of Cthulhu, an epoch spanning adventure centred on the famous rail srvice that conveyed passengers, in the utmost luxury, form Paris to Constantinople. I will be running the updated and improved edition from Chaosium [2013]. With a wide choice of pre-generated characters available - you can book last minute with no prep needed if necessary. [but some form of note taking might be useful]. You are, nonetheless, welcome to create your own character or possibly import one you have used from a previous game [main concern with importing experienced characters would be keeping things reasonably balanced for other players, but I doubt this will be a big problem] Please note, that if you are unaware, this is a horror genre game, inspired by and based upon the myths created by H.P. Lovecraft. It can get pretty dark. But scary is fun, right? Right? An Immersive experience with voice acting, countless handouts, and plenty of custom interactive maps.

Meet the Game Master
About me
Hi, I’m Elwood, a veteran RPG player and GM. I have always seen my role as a GM is to keep all my players (entertained and engaged. I have plenty of experience dealing with players entirely new to the hobby, so, you will be in a safe pair of hands if you are just starting out with ttrpg’s or if you have just simply never played any of the games I offer before. [don’t worry, I’ll have you up and running in no time]. I like to add personality to all my characters, both as a player and a GM. I love storytelling. I am also trained in acting, so I like to think my delivery is pretty good. I’m a friendly, easy going GM, who will play fast and loose with rules if that’s what makes the game fun for my players [does not mean I’ll always go easy on you, play your character like a fool, and I will let them die]. Very comfortable running long term sprawling sand box campaigns. But I will happily run one-shots and mini campaigns as well. I offer: Runequest Roleplaying in Glorantha [RQG], Warhammer Fantasy Role-Play, Call of Cthulhu [7th ed] Pendragon 6th Edition Dragonbane DUNE : Adventures in the Imperium [Modiphius] Stormbringer [BRP] [AKA: Elric! , Magic World] Basic Roleplaying [BRP] Star Wars D6 [WEST END GAMES] The Troubleshooters Traveller Harn, Harnworld [though not actually using Harnmaster system] Symbaroum And more…. I am willing and able to custom-build a campaign of any genre, any multi-genre, or genre-bending concept you have in mind. Whether inspired by film, tv, literature or by some weird dream you had the other night. I would typically make this using either a stable ruleset-toolkit namely BRP [Basic Roleplaying, used for Call of Cthulhu amongst others] I look forward to meeting new players [old or young] and have some fun adventures together. “When it comes to tabletop role-playing games, If you are having fun, you are winning”

Creating your character
There is a wide choice of pre-generated characters available if needed [I would actually recommend at least considering them, feel free to ask ahead of time]. Let me know if you need help creating a character of your own, or if you are completely new to the game and do not own or know the rules [not an issue, I can help with this]. If appropriate, I will run a session zero for character creation [either as a group or on a one to one basis], before officially beginning the campaign.
Playing every sunday, beginners and veterans welcome.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
I intend to run the game on Roll20, talking via discord. So you won’t need physical dice. I recommend all players have some method of note taking available.
What Elwood brings to the table
I can provide pdfs of all player handouts [there are a great many of them] during play. I will use floor plans and maps where needed [via roll20] I provide access to the Investigators [players] handbook via the roll20 compendium. I may also utilise other additional Call of Cthulhu supplements to enhance the campaign, including [but not limited to]: Cults of Cthulhu, The Dreamlands, Malleus Monstrorum, and The Grand Grimoire of Cthulhu Mythos.

How Elwood creates a safe table
This is a horror game, and as such deals with dark, unpleasant, and [sometimes] visceral content. Please feel free to discuss what you as a player will and will not be comfortable with prior to play [or after a session]. I will be using lines and veils in this aspect of the game. The ‘Horror on the Orient Express’ campaign, is set in the 1920’s; during this historical period, many people were subjected to prejudice, for either ethnic or lifestyle reasons. While I do acknowledge that these problems existed [and continue to do so], I have no intention of highlighting them in the context of this game. So expect a ‘fantasy version’ of 1920’s Earth. There are enough horrors in the world of Call of Cthulhu from the beyond, without adding earthly man made ones. We are here to have fun, and get a little ‘creeped out’ in the process.
