The Empty Throne - Be a Monster - Stop the Apocalypse

The Empty Throne - Be a Monster - Stop the Apocalypse

Apocalypse Keys, Powered by the Apocalypse RPG | Campaign

About the adventure

Welcome to DIVISION, the Department of Interdimensional Vigilance and International Security, Interdisciplinary Operations Network. This agency has two main goals: 1.) Observe and categorize supernatural phenomena, and 2.) Prevent any and all potential and ongoing Apocalypses. While humans are very capable, they often need help when dealing with high level paranormal threats. That's where you come in. You are a monster that works for DIVISION, mainly investigating mysteries and trying to stop supernatural powers from bringing the world closer to its destruction. Recently, harbingers of doom, agents of a new apocalypse have been appearing and manipulating events in the to unlock interdimensional doors that hasten the end of the world. Work with your fellow monsters and the rest of DIVISION to grasp keys, discover secrets, unlock the mystery of the empty throne and stop the harbingers from dooming the world as we know it! ---- Apocalypse Keys is a story-forward Powered by the Apocalypse game with a urban fantasy premise that is close to something like Hellboy/BPRD, Doom Patrol or even Justice League Dark (if you squint hard enough). There is heavy focus on character development as you and your team work through a number of mysteries, grasping clues and theorizing about the truth beneath them, all while chasing "Harbinger" level threats that seek to open the Doors of Doom and end the world as we know it. Be careful though, lest you fall too far into their machinations and become a Harbinger yourself! Many of the details of the world will be built around your character choices. if you're into the world reacting to your characters, this may be a great game for you to try! Your GM is nonbinary and this campaign is welcome to all.

Super easy to get along with. I love that they are inclusive and LGBTQ+ friendly. This was my first official Fate Core game (granted it was iHunt, but it's similar) and they were very helpful in teaching me how to play. Definitely going to be playing more games in the crew!

Tim is extremely adaptable as not only a GM, but as a person behind the GM. They are so understanding and accommodating, as they understand life happens and can get in the way. They go out of their way to make players feel comfortable and safe, but also ensures everyone has a great time. As my relationship with them grows and we both understand the games and stories more, the collaboration is so intoxicating. They’re putting my characters through some loops, some that hit a little too close to home, but I feel more than comfortable exploring all these loops, all while somehow enjoying it. Truly cannot recommend Tim’s games enough. An amazing experience.

I'm in a short Monster of the Week campaign run by Tim and I'm really enjoying it. The story is interesting and is set in a world which feels real enough without going overboard with details. I can't wait to see how the big finale goes down. They are also doing a good job of working with players of varied skill levels. I will say that they have some house rules which I could do without but I also think we players are having fun with them so that's not a big deal. I've played MotW with several Keepers and Tim is definitely one of the good ones. Good job.

Somehow keeps the game structured enough that it feels like it was planned but allows so much room for player creativity and group storytelling. Such a great GM!
