About me
Hi! My name is Tim. I have been playing TTRPGs for about seven years and GMing for about six of them. The games I have the most experience with are FATE, Kids on Bikes, numerous Powered by the Apocalypse Systems, some OSR systems, and 5e, but I have also run several other indie systems and am constantly checking out new indie games. I'm a narrative-focused GM who really enjoys character development and emergent story from gameplay. I do also enjoy combat, but narrative and character development don't turn off when the fight is on! I also love player contributions to the narrative and work with you to incorporate what you want to see for your characters into the storyline. My preferred virtual platform to play on as a GM is Role but I also will use Owlbear Radio depending on the system. I also use Theater of the Mind quite a lot, but typically with visual references. I use Discord for audio and video.
GM Style
I run games that are roleplay focused, but combat is typical in my sessions as well. I react to player decisions in significant ways end enjoy focusing on emergent narrative and roleplay. Players are often rewarded for fast thinking and engaging in the narrative and world. I enjoy leaning into what players want to see or experience in my games and building the experience around their characters.

Review update! I have now played nearly 20 games with Tim now so I feel like an update would be prudent! I shall leave my first review at the end for reference as I don’t think there is a character limit on these. After my first session, my introduction to Kids on Bikes via one shot I joined Tim’s Discord and noticed there was a drop in/drop out game starting up called iHunt. I had never heard of it before but after learning it was an urban fantasy like an anti capitalist Buffy I was in! Apparently it uses the FATE game system…another game I hadn’t heard of but uses dice I have at least seen before with the plus, minus, and x’s on 6 sided dice. Again Tim was great with teaching the game and playing through the Role website really made it a no brainer of just pushing the specific button when they said to. Now the meat and potatoes- basically I named a pregen called the Empathetic Bouncer and player her like a bad ass biker on a Vespa and off we went taking on a job from Demon DJ VIP keeping the raver crowd safe. It was a blast, and experiencing the roleplay forward style as an adult character had a different vibe of potential dangers and flirtations. Despite it being drop in/drop out, I’m now always in if I can! Every other week the IHunt game has me laughing at what the characters get up to and gleefully planning for future adventures and character developments. It is very clear that Tim is great at world building and has a very inclusive voice! NPCs appear in all genders, pronouns, races, and sexual identities backed by a thoughtful soundtrack! Safety tools are used and serious topics taken seriously. If you yearned for the sort of roleplay drama that you’ve seen on actual play shows, juicy romances, and dramatic turns included- Tim provides! Currently my bad ass bouncer isn’t sure if her lady friend she’s sort of dating has hooked up with a literal dragon while also dealing with potentially crossing the Demon DJ from episode one! After about 6 games of Ihunt, Tim announced a campaign of Kids on Bikes starting up where would play our adult selves and our teen selves, kind of like the movie IT. I signed up for that as well and MAN!! The horror drama vibes come through and how I love the shared trauma we are inflicting on my rich, repressed, love sick, closeted boy and his jaded, abused, heart broken, escapist, hot mess of an adult man. So to wrap up I’d rather be in one of Tim’s games, any system they chose, than play D&D or go to a movie or whatever. I yell from the rooftops to you how great an experience it is and yet remain thankful these games are still undiscovered gems that still has room for me in them! I have even booked a commissioned game for my friends so others can give Kids on Bikes a try with the best 🤗. Review after one game: I’ve never played Kids on Bikes before and had the most wonderful time! Tim was super friendly, helpful, patient, and easy going as I asked questions and created my character. Their DM style of storytelling is very inclusive and immersive and draws you in with descriptions that allow you to think about what is happening to your character and roleplay with fun and well voiced NPCs. The pacing was especially amazing because I only looked at my clock once because I was having so much fun roleplaying silly side arguments I worried we weren’t going to complete the story but it hadn’t been that long at all and the baddie showed almost immediately afterwards and everything progressed onward. The tone was great too. It really did feel like I was a kid in an 80s movie…obviously nervous and in over my head but still plucky and brave and able to affect things. A very nice change after playing in Ravenloft and D&D campaigns where silly and crazy creative ideas are fun but not often successful nor safe to optimistically try. Anywho recommend Tim to all! Had a great time and an amazingly fun game.
Tim is extremely adaptable as not only a GM, but as a person behind the GM. They are so understanding and accommodating, as they understand life happens and can get in the way. They go out of their way to make players feel comfortable and safe, but also ensures everyone has a great time. As my relationship with them grows and we both understand the games and stories more, the collaboration is so intoxicating. They’re putting my characters through some loops, some that hit a little too close to home, but I feel more than comfortable exploring all these loops, all while somehow enjoying it. Truly cannot recommend Tim’s games enough. An amazing experience.
The hardest part of this review was deciding which tags to exclude; Tim does a great job as the keeper for our ongoing MOTW campaign, and strikes a difficult but effective balance between running a challenging and fun game for experienced players as well as engaging new players such as myself. Using appropriate visual aids and background music, the narrative gameplay never feels forced or stilted. I was also particularly impressed with the considerations and guidance given in session 0 both in terms of character definition and setting up lines and veils to ensure safe and fun gameplay for all. I highly recommend Tim and will be playing more games with them in the future!
I'm in a short Monster of the Week campaign run by Tim and I'm really enjoying it. The story is interesting and is set in a world which feels real enough without going overboard with details. I can't wait to see how the big finale goes down. They are also doing a good job of working with players of varied skill levels. I will say that they have some house rules which I could do without but I also think we players are having fun with them so that's not a big deal. I've played MotW with several Keepers and Tim is definitely one of the good ones. Good job.
