Meet the Game Master
About me
My name is Grendy, and I’ve been running tabletop RPGs since the 90s. I specialize in immersive, player-driven campaigns where exploration, mystery, and meaningful choices define the story. My goal is to give you a world that feels alive—one you can push against, question, and transform through your actions. As a genderqueer and neurodiverse GM, I create a welcoming, inclusive environment where every player can engage comfortably and confidently. I use consent tools and clear communication to make sure the table feels safe for everyone. I run long-term campaigns that grow with your group, emphasizing emergent storytelling, morally complex scenarios, and tactical, narratively relevant combat. Whether you're brand new or deeply experienced, my fluency and adaptability ensure a smooth, engaging experience from session to session. I’m based in Pacific Time (GMT-7), with flexible scheduling and pricing for groups.

Creating your character
Book a free session zero with me to go over character creation. Create your character using D&Dbeyond (or in Foundry) prior to your first session. Characters begin at level 9 using standard array or point buy. You may use any officially published materials for Forgotten Realms. For Eberron, Exandria, or other non-Forgotten-Realms content, please check with me before adding it as some features are setting-specific (for example: dragon marks or dark gifts) and would not be appropriate for this campaign. You may take any mundane equipment your character has proficiency to use regardless of cost (including full plate, kits and tools). Your players are competent adventurers, so you can assume they have gear. Each character begins the game with a single healing potion, one uncommon and one common magic item.
The party consists of - A tiefling steel witch with a melee focus - A human champion fighter - An ameboid apothecary alchemist - A human shadow monk.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need a working PC with a mic and probably a head-set. You will also need a discord account and join my discord (https://www.funlandia.org). All games will be hosted on my personal self-hosted Foundry server. D&D beyond is an excellent choice for character creation, or you can create your character entirely within Foundry. If you need campaign resources they are be provided at no extra cost.
What Grendy brings to the table
My best asset is an extensive history of gamemastering. My approach to roleplaying is to create a complete experience for my players. The problem of "boring travel" is solved with a system of hex-crawling that allows for organic character growth, vivid lyrical immersion, and emergent storytelling. As a result, my sessions are much more focused on mystery, exploration, and social encounters than a typical "hack and slash" 5e campaign; and because the story is driven by the player choices, we will often go off-road of the module. I also voice-act most NPCs. 🌐I bring a complete, hand-crafted roleplaying experience with everything you need to fully immerse yourself, utilizing a huge array gaming assets that make each session with me run fluidly from scene to scene. ⚔️ Strategic combat is also a focus of my D&D games! Combat with multiple phases, changing terrain, interesting custom creatures, and environmental effects make each combat unique. ⌚ Players will collect downtime days every session (tracked and recorded for you!) along with enough GP to participate in downtime mini-games between sessions on the discord. Craft magic items, research mysterious occurrences, learn new proficiencies and more! 🖥️ I have a beautiful online gaming space powered by FoundryVTT and a host of quality-of-life modules to ensure an immersive player experience. I make custom visual aids and have a large library of thematically curated instrumental music that plays through the Foundry, dynamically adapting to the mood of each scene. As a result of this complete gaming experience, players at my tables are able to forge memories that will last a lifetime, to be recounted time and again! I look forward to gaming with you soon!
Homebrew rules
Up to date house rules are listed on my Discord. OVERLAND TRAVEL: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yOcB6wFL5nYWpUXqH3dLuzNE6ebwC-F85hdiaka6Ti8/ EXHAUSTION When you are subjected to the Exhaustion Condition it is cumulative. Each time you receive it, you gain 1 more level of exhaustion. You die if your exhaustion level exceeds 10. Finishing a Long Rest removes 1 of your levels of exhaustion. You experience the following effects: D20 Rolls -When you make a d20 roll, you subtract your exhaustion level from the roll. Spell Save DCs - Subtract your exhaustion level from your Spell save DC of any Spell you cast. DOWNTIME REWARDS Can only be used for downtime activity - 5 days of downtime per session per tier. - 100 GP per session per tier. Downtime activity may be used at the time of award or may be reserved for a later time. Narratively, this means a character with stored up downtime rewards may have big plans in the works. Downtime rewards cannot be stored beyond 500 days and 50,000 GP. CLASS, SPECIES, FEATS, & BACKGROUNDS In the 2024 edition, many Classes, Species, Feats, and Backgrounds have been updated. Players may individually choose which version they wish to use. If you select a 2014 Background, you may also take an Origin Feat from the 2024 Player's Handbook. If you take a 2024 background, you may also choose a 2014 background feature. POTIONS Drinking a healing potion as an action allows you to reroll any 1's. Using a bonus action to drink any type of healing potion does not allow rerolls of 1's . INSPIRATION FROM FAILURE Whenever a player character rolls a 1 for a d20 test and keeps the result, they gain Inspiration. UNARMED STRIKES Have the light and finesse properties.

How Grendy creates a safe table
I support the use of the Monte Cooke Consent in Gaming Form; ask me for a copy or just search for it on your favorite search engine. If I do not have a consent form from you, I will touch base with you about concerns and be upfront with content warnings. I make use of the Luxton technique which is to transparently do my best to communicate potentially triggering subject matter. It is understood that not every conceivable concern can be covered; instead, if something triggering arises we will discuss it, rework our safety strategy, and move forward with that potential trigger in mind. My games also maintain an open table. Players may step away when ever they need to, I only ask that you let us know when you step away by typing "brb" in the VTT chat or making use of the "stepping away" function. I support Red card/Yellow card AKA X card. If a player tells me "yellow card" we will move the subject matter to the background. If a player tells me "red card" or "x card" I will immediately fade the scene to black, call for a break, and check in with that player privately. At the end of every session we have a debrief which includes a Stars and Wishes ceremony. We talk about the good times, the epic times, and the moments that left us with lingering wishes. Debrief typically takes 15-20 minutes as we go around the table and share the joys and perils of the session. This is a good time to bring up rules discussions or inform each other of potential triggers.
