About the adventure
Tensions are high in the High Forest as the various tribes of Elves are aligning themselves under one of 2 leaders. Both leaders are wanting to re-establish the kingdom of Eaerlann but have different approaches and different aspirations. Meanwhile, the Lord's Alliance is looking to expand their political influence into the high forest. With all the political aspirations of the the various leaders, will any notice the growing threat in the High forest? 5e game loosely based in Forgotten Realms setting. High Fantasy with a balance of Exploration and discovery, Mystery and problem solving, Social and political interactions, and of course Battle. We will play single class Characters and the use of published resources outside of Players Handbook may be permitted at the GM's discretion. Looking for a balanced party who likes to role play scenarios and find alternative resolutions to situations other than just kill everything.

About me
Game Master since 2017 running over 1,600 hours of games. I enjoy running epic adventure fantasy games typically in a Forgotten Realms light setting (world lore is affected by players decisions.) My goal is to have a balance between Battle, Social interactions and exploring but the session direction can quickly change based on players actions.

Creating your character
You will be provided a link to D&D Beyond. Characters will start at level 1 and use Point Buy or Standard Array. If you choose to use materials outside of the Players handbook please ask for approval first.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need a good internet connection and a decent computer. Mic required and webcam is preferred. We can create characters during session 0 so that we can form a balanced party. If you create ahead of time we will review and adjust during session zero.
What Gene Armstrong brings to the table
We use D&D Beyond for the Campaign, Character creation and Dice Rolling (typically linked to Foundry VTT.) All the resources you need will be provided in D&D Beyond (but not every book.) Discord for private chats and Discord for our live sessions (Video and audio.) I use World Anvil for World information, large scale maps, lore, treasure listing, NPC information and important session notes. Role playing and team work is the focus of my games. PCs will have in-game reasons (that we work out in the first session) of how and why they work together. I do not allow PC vs. PC combat, theft from PCs, purposely harming another PC or anything as such. Not every relationship has to be perfect (none are) but PCs have to work together as a team with respect. Role playing is the desire for both me playing the NPCs and the players. Battles are generally tactical but in many situations, the scenarios can be resolved with creative role playing and not just killing everything. I like to give my "bad guys" motivations and not everything is black and white good and bad. A thief may be stealing just because she needs bread to feed her mother. But then again, evil NPCs do exist and may need to be dealt with as such. I discourage maximizing PCs for optimal battle as that's not the focus of my games. Magic items are moderately rare and usually consumable.

Safety
How Gene Armstrong creates a safe table
Profanity is not encouraged. Excessive profanity will not be tolerated. We generally play Rules as Intended. Rules will be bent on occasion to accommodate situations where the GM believes the outcome adds more entertainment or drama value to the story than the strict interpretation would allow. In some situations, a standard rule will be modified, and these are the “house rules.” As they come up everyone will be notified that this is a “new house rule.” House rules are posted in World Anvil and notifications are provided in Discord. I don't allow extended rules debate during play. The GM makes the call and if there are any questions about the ruling, notes will be made and a formal ruling will be posted in the World Anvil Rulings section.
