About the adventure
Under raging storm clouds, a lone figure stands silhouetted against the ancient walls of Castle Ravenloft. The vampire Count Strahd von Zarovich stares down a sheer cliff at the village below. A cold, bitter wind spins dead leaves about him, billowing his cape in the darkness. Lightning splits the clouds overhead, casting stark white light across him. Strahd turns to the sky, revealing the angular muscles of his face and hands. He has a look of power—and of madness. His once handsome face is contorted by a tragedy darker than the night itself. Rumbling thunder pounds the castle spires. The wind’s howling increases as Strahd turns his gaze back to the village. Far below, yet not beyond his ken, a party of adventurers has just entered his domain. Strahd’s face forms a twisted smile as his dark plan unfolds. He knew they were coming, and he knows why they have come—all according to his plan. He, the master of Ravenloft, will attend to them. Another lightning flash rips through the darkness, its thunder echoing through the castle’s towers. But Strahd is gone. Only the howling of the wind—or perhaps a lone wolf—fills the midnight air. The master of Ravenloft is having guests for dinner. And you are invited. - Curse of Strahd: Introduction Curse of Strahd is a gothic horror campaign set in D&D's Shadowfell. This campaign is an adventure for a party of four to six characters of levels 1–10. We'll be starting with level 1 characters. This campaign is for players who are new to DND and need a bit of help in figuring it out. Each encounter will involve a recap by the DM about ways to improve character use and gameplay so you can learn DND while playing. Additionally, this version of Curse of Strahd has additional content not found in the original sourcebook. This session typically contains those that have gone through the free Session 1 experience and wish to join the larger Campaign. However, it is drop in / drop out, so you can join the campaign at any time as long as there is a seat available. Once the campaign is over, I'll start another run, so if you want to join from the beginning, message me and I'll keep you informed.
Meet the Game Master
About me
I've been a GM for six years now. I've done many campaigns, weaving complex official D&D storylines together with my own bit of personal flair. I've also done a number of one shots and one page dungeons. These last ones can be the most fun as they often differ dramatically and put players in some very unusual situations. I'm available for hire for a group that wants to run the Curse of Strahd Campaign, Rise of Tiamat, Phandelver and Below, and many more. For sessions, I primarily use a mix of theater of the mind and I use tabletop simulator for visuals to create some elaborate 3d dungeons and then I stream the feed to a zoom channel where players make decisions for their characters and interact.

Creating your character
Character Creation should happen before the game. Once you sign up for session, I will message you with a campaign link for DnD Beyond. You can create a character there using my shared content. Enable homebrew and additional content. Use standard array for stats. I will let you know what level you should be at to join the campaign in progress. If you are new to D&D and need some help with character creation, let me know and we can arrange a pre-session for character building.
The campaign is a few sessions in, but still pretty early in the adventure. Please feel free to join!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
1. Have a free account for DnD Beyond: https://www.dndbeyond.com/ 2. Have access to Discord app or program. 3. You need a mic and headset(to avoid audiofeedback). Webcam is optional.

How Alex Cloud creates a safe table
This game contains the following themes: Horror, Death, the supernatural, and some gore. While I will attempt to never get too detailed in my descriptions, the Curse of Strahd module is meant to creep you out and, at times, disgust you. I use a bit of levity though to keep things from getting too intense. Though, if you have a bit of difficulty with any of these themes, you may not want to get involved in this campaign.
