Meet the Game Master
About me
Hi! I'm a 5e DM who loves to run a fun game and a good story. I've been running D&D since 2020 (quarantine hobby), and immediately got lost in it. I've since run over 150 sessions with multiple groups. I have the most experience running WOTC published modules, but I always rework them and make sure my characters feel like they have a home in the world. I've completed 7 official published modules and am currently running a homebrewed nautical campaign. I recently completed my first level 1-20 campaign, in which my party of 4 stopped the dragon goddess Tiamat from destroying the world. I also have a pile of homebrew ideas, if you're interested in a unique experience and are willing to brave uncharted waters. I also love introducing new players to D&D, so don't be shy if it's your first game! * Story- Focused * Character Focused * Beginner Friendly * Equal parts role play, exploration, and combat * Tone: Fun and action packed; A combination of Brandon Sanderson, The D&D Movie/ Marvel, and Stephen King. * | Forgotten Realms | Eberron | The Feywild | Planescape | * Rule of cool * High Fantasy * Horror (when appropriate) * Online: Owlbear Rodeo VTT and Discord Video * In-person: 3D Terrain, Minis, Maps, Theater of the Mind * Safety Tools: Lines and Veils, [X] Modules I have experience running: * Lost Mines of Phandelver * Dragons of Stormwreck Isle * Waterdeep: Dragon Heist * Hoard of the Dragon Queen * Rise of Tiamat * Storm King's Thunder * The Sunless Citadel * The Wild Beyond the Witchlight * Red Hand of Doom Games I Want to Run * Curse of Strahd * Planescape (WOTC) + Path of the Planebreaker (Monte Cook Games) * Eberron (WOTC) * Ruins of the Grendleroot (Mike Shea/ Sly Flourish) * Dragonlance (WOTC) * Out of the Abyss (WOTC) * Tomb of Annihilation (WOTC) * Odyssey of the Dragon Lords (Kobold Press) * Call from the Deep (JVC Parry) * Funhouse Dungeon Crawls * Shadowdark RPG * Monster of the Week * Mothership RPG * Call of Cthulu * Warhammer Fantasy RPG * Fantasy Age RPG * Shadow of the Weird Wizard * Pathfinder 2e

Creating your character
Allowable Classes: Players Handbook, Xanathar’s Guide to Everything, Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything*, Eberron-Rising from the Last War, Kobold Press Tome of Heroes Allowable Species: Any published by Wizards of the Coast or Kobold Press. * Exception: no Twilight or Peace Clerics due to brokenness Stats: Stats are independent of species, per Tasha's Cauldron of Everything Rules. For the sake of party balance, and because I don't require you to roll in front of me, stats can be assigned using either of the following Modified Standard Arrays (note, this takes into account the Tasha's Racial Stat Bonus): [16, 14, 14, 12, 12, 8] [16, 14, 14, 12, 10, 10] Feats are allowed: Variant Humans get a feat at level 1, all others may choose to take a feat at levels 4, 8, and/or 12 instead of an ability score boost. Rolling in Game: Honor system/ roll your own. I suggest physical dice, but do what works best.
The party is currently at level 4, exploring the metropolis of Sharn. The city is a great place to run into new characters, so any new players will have an easy time jumping in. The party is affiliated with House Tharashk and the Finder's guild and working on solving mysteries that cut deep to the core of corruption in Sharn.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Prior to the first session: Make sure you have access to a computer with a mic. A webcam is strongly suggested, but not required. Please install Discord prior to the session and join the Discord server. Decide whether you will be rolling physical dice, or using an online dice roller. If you're a newbie, send me a message and I'll make sure you have everything you need to jump in at Session 0. DO NOT MAKE CHARACTERS AHEAD OF TIME. If you want to start thinking about it ahead of time, come to Session 0 with two or three character ideas. We will create characters at Session 0. Once you sign up and send me your contact information, I will send out a Campaign Document with additional background you need to know.

How Aaron creates a safe table
My games use the following safety tools: Lines (do not cross): Rape/ sexual assault/ non-consensual sexual contact/ homophobia/ transphobia/ racism * Veils (cut away/ next scene): Violence to or death of children/ sexual content/ torture "Pause For a Minute": Any time during the game to break character and discuss the current situation out of character, including stating "I'm not comfortable with where this is going". The phrase "pause for a minute" interrupts anything else going on in the game. It's used to break character and discuss or ask questions about anything going on in-game. Think of this as a verbal X card. X-Card- A player at any point can hold up their fingers/ hands in an “X” gesture to the camera or alternatively send an “[X]”to the GM in chat. The GM will then “Pause for a Minute” and address/ revise/ retcon any content as needed to make sure all players feel safe and comfortable. * Interspecies racial tension may sometimes occur as a theme of the game (unless requested by a payer to be excluded from the game). Racism will *always* be portrayed in a negative light. Any player at any time can *pause for a minute* (see above) or [X] Card to the GM in chat if they are unhappy with or wish to discuss and revise the content. Topics that may be encountered (note, most of these can be revised and written around if they are an issue. Please discuss ay additions or questions about this list with the GM)- Violence. Dismemberment. Gore. Harsh Weather Extreme poverty and inequality Class tension Eldritch/ Cosmic/ Lovecraftian horror Body horror and possession Devils and Demons Nuclear war Technological Disaster Trauma- psychological The Undead Racism between fantasy species (always cast in a negative light)
