About the adventure
WELCOME to the wonderful world of Spyre, a John Huges-esque 1900's 1900s-inspired fantasy world of magic and mayhem. Step into your freshman year at the Aguefort Adventuring Academy where you will be thrown into the chaos of high school once again; face bullies, crushes, asshole teachers, and rival schools as you navigate the complex coming-of-age of a series of young adventurers! This will be an original adventure with inspiration taken from the characters that you make, In other words, it doesn't matter if you've watched all 5 seasons of the actual play that take place here in Spyre, or have never even heard of Dimension 20! This is going to be a roleplay-heavy game with a huge emphasis on improv and interplayer relationships, so bring your improv pants and a notepad or two! This campaign is perfect for all who seek to join, we are a first-timer-friendly table, so whether you've been playing for 20 years and want a chill, fun game full of something new, or are an actual play fan who wants to start with something comfortable. About me
Hey, I'm Kai (Doc)! I have been DM'ing for about two years now and I kind of jumped in head first; the first session I ever ran was also my first game TTRPG session ever! But hey that group is still going almost two years strong and according to them, I handled it pretty well! I tend towards Horror-Light campaigns; exploring dark themes, a bit of gore, and intrigue with High power players in a High fantasy setting. I do tend to run with a few player-friendly house rules, and I try not to say no, after all this is a cooperative experience. I am a DM devoted to the comfort of my players first and foremost; comfort in roleplaying, communication, and creativity. Ultimately, I DM because I love to create alongside other open-minded individuals; as such, I typically run in a homebrew world of mine because it allows for more flexibility and a more consistent experience for my players. I hope we all have plenty of chances to have a good time roleplaying some silly fantasy games together <3.

I'm currently in Doc's Fantasy High campaign, and it's been a great time so far! It started a bit slow and awkward, but I think that's expected with a group of complete strangers. It's been better and better every session, though! This is the DM you want if you prefer a sandbox experience that focuses more on improv and roleplaying than battle maps and intricate combat scenarios. For example, we've had six sessions so far and one battle map. There have also been a couple of minor battles, but those were quick and had no visual component.

Honestly one of the most chill and awesome DM I ever gad the chance to play. The world he created, as well as the story and choices he gave us as well as letting us (the players) go absolutely crazy with some decisions. He really immersed us in the story, the only DM where I argued with players in character, full on multiple arguments overlapping. If you want a fun experience Doc has the games from you.

Character creation
Creating your character
Character creation will be done together at session 0, I welcome most 3rd party content and anything you can find on d&d beyond, We will be rolling stats together and starting at level 1 as fledgling adventurers.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Camera is not necessary, though it is welcomed! You will need a d&d beyond account (free is fine), a working mic, discord, and roll20 accounts. If you are missing any of the above items or memberships, I will e available to assist you in setting them up.
What DocHoliday brings to the table
I Plan combats to run on Roll20 with a mix of premade and custom maps, though I am not the kind of DM to run combat every session, I try to make it interesting and dynamic when it comes up. Expect some custom-tailored items and monsters homebrewed to fit our stories and characters, fully voiced NPC's, and personalized enemies. I am here to help with custom tokens and can even help you find a few people who make affordable character art as well!

I keep an updateable google doc of Lines and Veils, and my personal messages are always open for communication. Otherwise, this is a world of immense power, players can expect a lot of freedom; I use a couple of house rules for character creation, all of which can be found under the #rules channel in our server.
