Thom is an excellent DM with great imagination and well attuned to handling different player types. He does a great job preparing for adventures including backstory, matched opponents, thought-provoking scenarios, and timely consideration for the group. As a 30 year adventurer, he combines the flavor of various editions into a single custom campaign by avoiding out-of-the-box dungeons.
He's been really good with talking to me out of playing with my character's backstory and adjusting things. Plus it's fun to throw random actions to see how he reacts, it's always different, keeps me on my toes, and is fun to react it. Also handles new players very well! Very helpful with explaining thing, even midgame.
We have been playing with Thom for a almost 3 years now, and truly enjoy his DMing style. We are a bunch of guys in our 50s and wanted to play good old fashioned 2nd edition D&D. Although Thom is primarily a 5e player, he was able to accommodate us. Before we even started, he gave us a survey to see what kind of style we wanted to play (heavy combat, heavy role playing, etc.) He has adapted a lot of monsters and magic items from 5e, which gives the adventure a unique flavor and adds an element of surprise as we don't know the abilities or characteristics of the creatures and items we come across. He is always prepared and goes along with our often crazy schemes. I would highly recommend Thom to anyone looking for a GM.
