About the adventure

A Horror Mystery in three parts. ------------------- In Ireland, an archaeological team unearths an ancient horror, trapped within three stone vessels. The foul entity sets its followers on a journey to free it from its prison, crossing the Atlantic to New England and the backwoods of rural Massachusetts. As part of a group of investigators of the occult, it's down to you, and your friends, to put a stop to the evil threatening to take over the world - and keep a madman from unleashing an ancient evil upon everyone. The Order of the Stone is a relatively short campaign in three acts, perfect for newcomers and experienced Call of Cthulhu players alike.

About me

Experienced fantasy/comedy writer and GM helping others get into tabletop. My experience as a writer, along with studies on plot and character development and stage experience as an actor and singer, are all put here in service of telling you a story that's memorable and creating a world where you'll be the protagonist. All of my experience and knowledge is at your disposal, and new players will receive guidance not only on how to create characters, but how to better develop them into full, believable people I specialize in bringing out the funny, the quirky, and the odd in campaigns. Reacting to players' actions isn't only a part of the job for me, but my favorite part of it - creating situations and shaping the storyline between the players and the GM is the heart of tabletop roleplaying. If you're laughing or surprised, I've done my work. If you can come out of my table having learned the rules of the game and becoming a fine roleplayer, I've done my work. All my games are LGBTQ+ friendly, and my tables are safe spaces where people from all walks of life are welcome.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will take place during session zero, after a short discussion about the campaign itself and the limitations on characters, along with the ideal type of character for the campaign.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Discord and access to voice chat is required, as that's how the game will be ran. Access to Role for character sheets and rolls is also necessary, although I could always manage your character sheet and you could make rolls on discord using avrae. The link to the campaign discord is https://discord.gg/mSS8JZ4Es3

What Tizzy brings to the table

I'm bringing the source books, knowledge about the game and system, digital handouts, and a well-researched, streamlined campaign.

Safety

How Tizzy creates a safe table

Call of Cthulhu is slow-paced, combat-light, so most of the sessions will consist of the GM and the players navigating through situations both scripted and that result from player action. Expect the kind of roleplay that's more about your character's thoughts and actions than about how good they are at battling and beating evil. This means the game is better suited for fans of other low-combat games, like Vampire the Masquerade, or people looking for deeper RPG experiences where most encounters are social rather than combat. While as a GM (or Keeper, as would be the term for CoC) I tend to veer towards the funny side of situations, make no mistake - storylines often are and can get pretty dark. We will have conversations about lines, veils, and triggers during session zero and at the beginning/end of each session, but it's always good to be aware that, in horror games, horrific things do happen. To help players deal with potential stress resulting from in-game situations, sessions can be stopped at any moment if a player feels triggered, even if the situation creating it wasn't one discussed before and thus not one of the previously agreed-on lines or veils. It is my duty to offer you the safest experience I can, and I'll hold myself to it. All of my campaigns are illustrated - besides having maps when necessary, players are shown reference images of the places they're visiting and people they're meeting as a means to help them get into their characters and the worlds they inhabit.
