About the adventure
The threat of Elemental Evil surfaces in different worlds of the multiverse whenever the force known as the Elder Elemental Eye tests its strength. In its current incarnation, Elemental Evil arises in the Sumber Hills. The scattered towns and isolated homesteads of this frontier now face a dire threat. If the forces of Elemental Evil can’t be defeated before they grow, madness and destruction could spread unchecked through the North. The presence of Elemental Evil in the Sumber Hills goes back thousands of years, when a sect of renegade drow discovered the extensive caverns beneath the Sumber Hills and claimed it as their territory. These dark elves venerated a terrible god of primordial evil, and they built a shrine to this nameless power. In time, the ancient drow cult faded away (or was wiped out), and the place known as the Temple of the Elder Elemental Eye was forgotten for centuries. The dwarves of Besilmer were the next folk to discover the site. Besilmer was a realm of pastures and cropland. The dwarves established an underground stronghold called Tyar-Besil beneath the Sumber Hills to defend against the trolls and giants that plagued the region. The dwarves discovered the ancient drow hold and its temple below their own delvings. They lacked the strength to clean out the ruins, so they abandoned their deeper excavations. Trolls and giants soon broke the realm of Besilmer, and the remaining dwarves abandoned the place altogether. After thousands of years, the seeds of Elemental Evil once again sprout beneath the Sumber Hills. Whether anyone can expose these sinister plots and put a stop to them remains to be seen.

About me
I have been playing Dungeons and Dragons since 2nd edition, so I am extremely familiar with this system and have been for a long time. Over the last 5 years I have been running games just for friends, and it been such a great time that I decided to run D&D for Everyone! No matter who you are, what you prescribe to, or who you identify as, if you like fantasy and D&D, you are welcome!! I bring a lot to my D&D campaigns. My homebrew campaign (set in Forgotten Realms) has a bit of everything: roleplay, dungeon crawls, puzzles, humor, tragedy, interesting NPCs and heart. I create side stories based on PC's backstories and add them to the world so everyone gets their time to shine! Plus I make my own maps!! I also have other campaigns available: Curse of Strahd, Tales From the Yawning Portal and Princes of the Apocalypse! But if you have a 5e (or 5e compatible) campaign or one-shot in mind, let me know and I can run it for you!! I run my games on D&D Beyond, I use D&D Beyond Maps for location and use Discord to communicate, so there are no extra fees. I also use Syrinscape for music and ambiance. I offer a free session zero to discuss what players are looking for, set ground rules and help with character creation. So whether you're an old hand at the game, or if you're a rookie who just set out on their first adventure, I have something for you. Let's roll some dice!!!

Creating your character
Character creation will start in session 0. Stat rolling will be decided during session 0 as well. Starting level for the PCs will also be decided during session 0. Alterations are allowed until the first session begins. Players are welcome to refer to the Players Handbook, Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, and Xanthar's Guide to Everything. Players should NOT read/use Princes of the Apocalypse.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Free Discord and D&D Beyond accounts will be necessary. If a potential player does not have a webcam or a way to be seen on Discord, that is fine, but a mic is a must. I would prefer that a potential player has a basic understanding of D&D, but it is not a necessity, as I am all for helping them learn. Character creation will be done during a free session 0 so players and I can all agree and make sure the party is balanced. Characters can be altered up until the first session.
What DM Rob V brings to the table
D&D Beyond, D&D Beyond Maps, Discord. The links for Discord and D&D Beyond will be provided when you receive the booking email. I try to make my sessions as entertaining as possible. I do voices (I'm no Matt Mercer, but I try). I will be using Syrinscape to provide ambiance music during the session. I do a mixture of RAW, RAI and Rule of Cool. But most important, I try to bring the FUN!!
Homebrew rules
One PC at a time. I know everyone wants to do stuff, like search for secrets and loot bodies. I like to institute what my friends and I call Rando. I have a name randomizer that I use so who goes first in any situation is always random. I use it a lot after battles and for social situations. Unless the group wants to have dedicated PCs that handle certain situations, I advocate for Rando. Critical hits. No one wants to roll low damage when they roll a nat 20. I have three options for you, keep in mind enemies will abide by these rules as well: 1. Automatically double damage dice (no roll) and add the modifier or 2. Full damage on one die and roll the 2nd, then add the modifier, or RAW. Nat 20 and nat 1 count for skills checks as well. Use of potions is a bonus action. Ask PCs if they have any house rules they want to implement. Roleplaying is greatly encouraged. You could simply let the dice do the talking, but I will lower the DC if you roleplay what you are doing (especially for Persuasion, Deception, Intimidation checks, etc.). The better the RP, the better the reward. All of this is discussed and decided upon during Session 0.
