Fists of the Ruby Phoenix: Dual-Class Mixed Martial Arts
Pathfinder 2e | Campaign
About the adventure
As one of the world's most accomplished prize fighters and fortune seekers, there's only one venue worthy of your renown: the Ruby Phoenix Tournament. Hand-selected by the tournament's sponsoring sorcerer of the same title, you'll compete for fame, glory, bragging rights... and a single treasure from her unparalleled vault of wonders. Standing between you and your ultimate desire: thirty-one opposing teams of colorful competitors. An island's worth of fearsome beasts and spirits. A port city, mired in skullduggery and match fixing. An imperial court, whose notables sponsor favorites and sabotage rivals as they vie for prestige. And a long-banished horror, eager to escape its cage and sweep away everything the Ruby Phoenix has made with all the force of a tsunami. Think you can rumble with the world's best? 'Cause however super powered you think you are... the Ruby Phoenix Tournament's got hands! π€ Throw down with frenemies! π¦ Rumble in the jungle (dinos beware)! π Win tokens of imperial favor! πΉ Play to the roaring crowd (roses optional)! πΈ Lose money on side bets! π΅οΈ Spy on rival teams (they'd do the same to you)! π¦ Punch out the invading kaiju! πͺ Claim the greatest of treasures! (...maybe deal with the kaiju first...) Expanded beyond the published material with: πͺ Power: Blow out the power curve with all the empowering variant rules, but don't think your rivals won't have the strength and numbers to match you; they're tuned to push you to the limits. π€ Intrigue: Step out of the arena and into the surrounding town and jungle. Meet fans and sponsors, uncover secret plots... and maybe hatch a few underhanded schemes of your own. π Immersion: Enjoy a premium VTT experience with sophisticated automation, varied soundtracks, and an extensive library of maps for original and player-driven quests.

Rule of Cool (RoC)
βRule of Coolβ emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a systemβs rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.
Combat Heavy
βCombat Heavyβ games emphasize the combat mechanics within their systems over roleplay or puzzle solving. There are frequent and longer battles with enemies and a greater emphasis on tactical game play.

How to prepare
For the best experience at my table, you'll need: β Familiarity with the Player's Guide (https://downloads.paizo.com/Fists%20of%20the%20Ruby%20Phoenix%20Players%20Guide.pdf) β A desktop or laptop computer β Foundry Lightweight Client (https://flc.ruleplaying.com/) or a Chromium-based web browser β A Discord account β A microphone I also recommend: β A mouse and discrete graphics card β Headphones or earbuds β A premium account on Pathbuilder (https://pathbuilder2e.com/) β A video camera If you need any special accommodations for inclusion at my table, please reach out to me and I'll do my best to provide them.
What I provide
I run games on a richly customized Foundry server, complete with high automation, soundscapes, animations, and additional maps for minor scenes and improvisation. I also create custom content that responds to the party's interests and decisions. You can look forward to fleshed-out minor teams, a fully explorable tournament city, and encounters that push the limits of your superpowered characters
Gameplay details
Fists of the Ruby Phoenix generally presents action and adventure that abides by the Pathfinder Baseline guidelines set forth in Player Core (https://2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=2265). As the adventure path focuses on tournament fighting and battles against large beasts, fantasy violence - some of it lethal and underhanded - is a central pillar of the experience.

How will character creation work
Create a character of level and wealth matching the party. Or, choose two pregenerated iconic characters of the same level, and the GM will combine them into a single character for you. Variant Rules: β Ancestry Paragon (gain an extra ancestry feat at odd levels) β Automatic Rune Progression (weapons and armor wielded by PCs gain level-appropriate fundamental runes; other item bonuses unchanged) β Dual-Class PCs (gain the features and training of two classes) β Free Archetype (gain an extra archetype feat at even levels) β Gradual Ability Boosts (gain one ability score across four levels instead of all at once) β Quick Retraining (each day of retraining downtime PCs spends counts as one week for the purposes of retraining character options) Character Option Access: With few exceptions, player characters have access to all uncommon and rare character options and equipment. Feats that grant access to an ancestry's or organization's items are generally not required. Prohibited Character Options: β Spoiler-marked options from "Fists of the Ruby Phoenix" β Options prohibited on a case-by-case basis for breaking genre or causing problematic play patterns. In some cases, the GM can provide a more suitable replacement upon request. Player characters have access to all uncommon and rare character options and equipment, with the exception of options unique to the adventure path. All character options linked on these web pages with a "May contain spoilers for Fists of the Ruby Phoenix" note are disallowed, and must be earned over the course of the adventure: β https://2e.aonprd.com/Sources.aspx?ID=85 β https://2e.aonprd.com/Sources.aspx?ID=86 β https://2e.aonprd.com/Sources.aspx?ID=87 If needed, the GM will veto or redesign other options that contradict the fiction or diminish the table's fun. Third-Party Character Options: In addition to Paizo-published character options, the GM has access to a selection of third-party character options: β Paizo playtest materials for upcoming source books β Lore-appropriate options from Starfinder 2E β Ancestries from Roll for Combat's Battlezoo line of third-party sourcebooks So long as there is unanimous agreement from all players to introduce this material, the GM will make it available upon request. Check the adventure's recruiting notes for information on which third-party materials, if any, the table is using.
