About the adventure

The notorious lich Vecna is weaving a ritual to eliminate good, obliterate the gods, and subjugate all worlds. To stop Vecna before he remakes the universe, you will work with three of the multiverse’s most famous archmages, travel to far-flung locales, and rebuild the legendary Rod of Seven Parts. This adventure will span levels 10-20 as you face legendary threats and travel across various universes from the forgotten realms to Spelljammer, and from ravenloft to Greyhawk!

About me

Hello, Hello! I'm Michael, an experienced Game Master from Australia with a passion for unforgettable adventures. Over the years, I've run games for events like Supernova and Avcon, and I was a fixture in my local game store's Adventurers League. I love meeting new people and weaving epic tales. My games are a unique blend of deadly tactical combat and immersive roleplay sprinkled with plenty of shenanigans. My primary aim is to create a world and story that can truly immerse you as both a player and character, presenting you with encounters designed to both enable you to shine and be challenged. I can't wait to roll the dice with you and share some fantastic adventures!

Character creation

Creating your character

You will need to make your character before the first session, but characters can be altered during your first level up and during session 0. (Material Inclusion): All official Wizard of the Coast books are allowed (no partnered or 3rd party content without checking with me first). We will be using the 2024 rules, which means, wherever possible, use the latest version of any races, spells, classes, subclasses, feats, etc. (Character Level): The Adventure will begin at level 10; however, if you are joining a campaign in progress, the party's current level will be in the recruitment notes. (Stat Allocation): Use either the standard array or point buy Methods to allocate your stats. (Background Options): All backgrounds are available. If your background doesn't already grant you a feat, you can choose an origin feat to go with your background. (Starting Equipment) On top of your standard starting equipment, you will also get: - 5,000gp to send on non-magical equipment, spell components and crafting materials - 2x uncommon Magic Items - 1x Rare Magic Item *you can trade up two magic items of a lower rarity for one of a higher rarity

What to expect

Preparing for the session

(Communication) Make sure you have at least a microphone. I would recommend a webcam, though it isn't essential. (Accounts) Make sure you have a Roll 20 Account, as it will be used for battle maps, a D&D Beyond account for character creation, and a Discord Account, as that is how we will be communicating. The extension 'Beyond 20' for your browser is free and very useful for using D&D Beyond and Roll 20 together. (Character) When creating your character, make sure to create it through the D&D Beyond Link provided. If you need help with character creation, be sure to reach out to me, as I'm happy to help and answer any questions you may have or troubleshoot any technical issues with you. (Tokens) Generic Class and number tokens will be available; however, if you would like to use any custom tokens for your character and/or summons feel free to send them to me and I will be sure to set them up for you :D

What Michael brings to the table

I will be providing a campaign link with all the content on D&D Beyond, a roll 20 campaign complete with Maps and NPCs, music and ambience during the session, and a community discord server with its own private category just for members of this campaign. My DM style involves crunchy tactical combat with multiple solutions. I live by the rule of cool, but I try to stick to the Rules as Written as much as possible.

Homebrew rules

I play mostly rules as written with a few homebrew rules that can be found here: https://homebrewery.naturalcrit.com/share/UGDILIvMSwld

Safety

How Michael creates a safe table

(Safety Tools) Part of the first session of the campaign will be a session 0. During this part of the session, we will discuss the safety tools in use, any topics people don't want to see come up, setting expectations for play, ensuring everyone's programs and software are working well, and finally, going over characters and backstories, etc. If you are joining a campaign in progress, I will organise a time prior to the session to go over a session 0 with you. If at any point a topic comes up that makes you feel uncomfortable, there will be tools in place for you to privately message the DM and the offending content will be skipped, no questions asked. There will be a short scheduled break about halfway through the session. This will be a good opportunity to go to the bathroom, have a quick snack or a drink, or message the DM about any concerns you may not have felt comfortable bringing up in the moment.
