About the adventure

Will your group be stalwart heroes of justice? Or soldiers that serve noble lords? Perhaps a group trying to make their own standing as a new criminal guild? Decided at session 0, this campaign has three distinct paths: the hero, the soldier of the nobles, or as criminals. Each has a plot that will ultimately be concluded between 9th-11th level, allowing you to springboard into the rest of the continent of Silesia. Decidedly urban, roleplay and combat will be equally used, with options for diplomacy, intimidation, and plotting always being available. PvP (player versus player) is toggled off unless the group unanimously agrees to allow it. High magic with an enchanted metropolis filled with fantasy races, religions, and monsters - adventure is guaranteed... but how will you all decide to go about it? The Nuts and Bolts: There are a list of allowed races/classes (see below) that have homebrew traits available. No other races or classes are allowed. You start at 3rd level, have 25 point buy, 3,000 gp and two traits. You also gain 250 crimson coins if you are a new player, a currency that lets you buy class features and bonuses, as well as make re-rolls during the session. Races allowed: elves, half-elves, nyss, undine, sylph, oread, ifrit, grippli, halfling, gnome, human. Classes allowed: Core, Base, Hybrid, Unchained. Each PC is allowed one archetype per class they have. Recommended: Have a brief backstory (no more than 12 sentences). Don't attach yourself to a different campaign setting or something from it, and try to not include things like prophecies/divine tasks. I can include such things, they tend to dominate a campaign though. If you have a backstory that is reasonable, your character gets an additional 1,000 gp and +50 crimson coins. Allowed books are Core, Ultimate Combat/Intrigue/Equipment/Magic, Advanced Class Guide, Unchained. Mythic is not a part of this setting, nor is Psionics. Modules and Campaign specific books are not allowed, nor are Campaign traits - This game will have a selection of up to 25 campaign traits to choose from. Do note we use Elephant in the Room rule set, and have a list of homebrew rules (sent to prospective players before they pay any money).

About me

I'm hosting games for Pathfinder 1st edition, largely because I've noticed there aren't a lot of people hosting these games. I've been a DM for over twenty years, and have the philosophy that the game is meant to be something fun for everyone involved. I try and make games that have something for every player. I run modules, both bought and homebrewed.

Character creation

Creating your character

During session 0 (a free session set up a week before the campaign begins) I will help people make characters, and answer questions about the world. Starting level will be 3rd level with 25 point buy, standard wealth. Two traits, one archetype.

The current party

Expect urban exploration and dungeons, as you will be either a member of a noble mercenary force, the town guard, or a criminal group (to be decided at Session 0 by the party). Starting at 3rd level, you will likely remain in the main city until 9th level - after that you will have a whole continent to decide where, and what, your party will do. Limited races available (covered at Session 0), and classes are limited to Core/Base/Hybrid/Unchained classes (no Occult/3rd party), with one template per character. 25 point buy, 3,000 gp starting wealth otherwise. Races available: Elf, Half-elf, Nyss, Undine, Oread, Sylph, Ifrit, Grippli, Halfling, Gnome, Human. The Nyss are a homebrew race, and humans have several subraces - all other races have variant traits available to them for the setting. There is a homebrew pantheon, where the gods have favored weapons and recommended domains; if the domain makes sense for the god, they might offer it! Paladins, clerics, oracles, inquisitors, warpriests, cavalier, and omdura all require a deity.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Have at least three character ideas in mind, make sure you have a microphone and the Discord application. There are some house rules that will be covered during session 0. Characters will be created during session 0.

What Nicholas Paschall brings to the table

I bring the Foundry VTT, custom maps and content, fleshed out homebrew world. NPCs have their own individual histories and motives. I embrace the rules as written, for the most part, but often make calls mid game to speed things up. If we later find out that call was against some errata or something, I tend to skew in favor of the player.

Safety

How Nicholas Paschall creates a safe table

We will take a break every session that lasts 20 minutes, for dinner/bathroom breaks. At session 0, I will have a questionnaire that will bring me up to speed on what topics to avoid. There will be aftercare at the end of each session, to break down what happened in the session and what to expect next session.
