Terra: The Grimlocke Chronicles

Terra: The Grimlocke Chronicles

Pathfinder 1e | Campaign

About the adventure

Welcome to the magical realm of Terra, a world of intrigue and mystery! There once was a mad wizard by the name of Grimlocke. Powerful on his own, yet greedy for more, he did his level best to connect with the primal forces of existence. In his arcane study, he penned four volumes, each a treatise on magic, religion, and the stuff of creation. The originals have been lost in the sands of time, with copies of the fourth volume now used as one of the starting texts in most arcane universities. There are those that seek the lost copies, and many legends of where the originals could be housed, but most adventurers know these are just the stories meant to be bandied about a campfire. But now, signs of a coming apocalypse have begun to make themselves known. A meteor shower of glowing orange beauty in the Norturlends, children born with the strength to topple ogres as infants, and marks of a forgotten evil being marked in public spaces. Terra needs heroes, heroes who can investigate these strange occurrences, be it through word or sword, and stop the coming end of days. Are you such a hero? Someone who can do whatever it takes to stop the encroaching darkness from overcoming the last light of this world? This game will be starting out at 3rd level, with most of the Pathfinder books available for use. There will be a free Session 0 where house rules and available books will be outlined. Unchained classes are allowed (and encouraged), and we use Elephant in the Room ruleset. The game is on Foundry VTT, with Discord used for each of us to communicate.

Recruiting notes

The first two sessions are free. Upon signing up I will alter the charge, so just be aware that you will not be charged for any session until the third one. This is to make sure you enjoy the campaign, and that we mesh as a group. Make sure you have a microphone, Discord, and have Chrome installed. For whatever reason, FoundryVTT prefers Chrome. You will be rolling a 3rd level, 25 point buy, with Base or Core classes available. Homebrew races will be used. The Foundry VTT table will be open a week before the first game (June 1st), and you will be able to make characters then. I will be on the table and in discord two hours before the first game to help people make characters, if they are not used to Foundry.

How to prepare

You'll need a mic and a steady internet connection. I have some .pdfs of the homebrew world, which you can read in advance if you wish. That being said, you are in no way required to do the reading, as I will happily answer questions as they arise during the campaign. I do have a set of house rules that I will need you to read and agree with, which will be offered during Session 0.

What I provide

I ring the story, Foundry VTT, and a discord server for our group use. I often use character voices, and each character tends to have their own backstory associated with them. Combat can be dicey, as I run monsters and enemies with their relative intelligence in mind. In cases where the rules are suspect (or not explaining anything of use) I will make on the spot determinations to speed up play. If it turns out there is an errata or other official source that clears up an issue that is discovered later (after the session) I will adjudicate how we move forward, usually with the players getting the preferred solution. I like to remind players that this is a group game, and in this game I will not be allowing evil characters. I understand some people wish to play evil, but for this game, being heroes is what is needed. You don't necessarily have to be good-aligned, but you do have to want to help rather than harm. Rule of Cool is allowed when you tell me how you strike an enemy, or if you have an interesting idea in how to tackle a problem. There are no such things as stupid questions, and I love when players try to come up with tactics against new enemies.

Gameplay details

Session 0 will have the party iron out their roles and classes, as well as when we go over the house rules and what books are available to use for character creation. There will be a debriefing at the end of every session, and a small questionnaire that players will be asked to fill out for potential triggers, so that I as the DM can figure out how best to care for everyone involved.

How will character creation work

Character creation will start during Session 0, where I will show you the basics of how to create a character on Foundry VTT. The platform will be open for a week between session 0 and session 1, where you can hop in and tinker with character designs to your heart's content. If you need any assistance, I of course will help assemble your character into Foundry.
