About the adventure
Tal'dorei teeters on the edge of Civil War. Sovereign Jashei has died without appointing an heir and the Council cannot reach a decision on whom to support. The Sovereign's sister, Ashelyn holds sway in Emon and in much of the west. In the north, an army grows behind the banner of Karl Tanner, the supposed bastard son of Jashei. And in the east, the young elf Indris holds sway over many whom tire of seeing a human on the throne. The world holds its breath as conflict seems inevitable. Cracks in the ages-old peace have appeared and criminals of all colors spill out into the divide. It is a time for heroes to rise, but will they heal the land or see it burn in their wake? This is your story. This campaign will take place around your characters and how they navigate a tense and volatile situation. Will you get involved? Will you steer clear? Will you take advantage of it and seize your own power? Join and find out.

About me
Hello! I've been running and playing RPG games since the mid-90s, starting with Star Wars 2nd Edition from West End Games through many others afterward. I'm typically that guy in your group of friends who is always ready to run a game and prefers to GM. I'm a writer and game designer by trade and I greatly enjoy telling an engaging and fun story for everyone. If you have any interest in the games I'm running, always feel free to reach out! I've run a vast amount of games over the years, from D&D (2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th editions) to Star Wars (every version!) to Burning Wheel to White Wolf's various games and many many others. I love game systems and learning new ones with the time I have available. My collection of games is nearing library-level even though I know I'll never play most of them. If you're still reading then I guess you want to know more about me? Well, I'm a SciFi and Fantasy author as well as a video game designer. I work for a large AAA publisher but I prefer to keep my day job out of my spotlight. Due to that you can be certain I love PC and console games and they are definitely my stress salve. I'm also a lover of combat flight simulators and aviation in general. It's definitely one of my biggest loves. Well, that and coffee. Lots of coffee. The only thing I love more than coffee is my adorable son, my lovely wife, and my old and grumpy dog.

Creating your character
Character Creation will begin in Session 0. As stated before, the group will decide how little or how much they want their characters involved in the growing conflict. This is a story about characters while a greater situation explodes around them.
Your first session will be free so don't hesitate to inquire about joining us! This campaign will be focused around your characters, their ties to the world and how they navigate the situation at hand. For that reason, I'm reviewing every applicant before approving them. There is a lot at stake in a campaign like this and want to make sure the group will be good together. If possible, send me a note with your game experience what you look for in a campaign! We will be using a variant of the Heroic Chronicle in Session 0, but it would be good to have a concept with goals in mind as well!

Preparing for the session
Consider what you want out of a customized game. Think about how much of Tal'dorei you want to explore and what themes excite you. Please have a decent internet connection and mic.
What Mike brings to the table
I will bring access to many books via DNDBeyond and Roll20. We'll be using Roll20 for the game and character sheets can be used there or connected to DNDBeyond via Beyond20. While I am no voice actor I do try and differentiate my character voices as best I can. I utilize music for scenes where possible but it's up to the group if that's something they want or desire. I stick to the rules as best I can, but the Rule of Cool always wins out in the end.

How Mike creates a safe table
We will be using a Session 0 (which will be free for players). In that session we'll discuss characters and how they might connect to the overall situation on the continent. The group can decide how little or how much they want to be involved in coming conflict. Maybe they just want to lay low and avoid it all... but rarely do heroes find themselves a quiet life...
