Chains of Asmodeus - The price of a Soul - 8th Layer [level 20]
Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign
About the adventure
In the depths of Nessus, I sit upon my throne, watching the Great Wheel turn. Every soul, every heartbeat, every fleeting thought is like a delicate note in the symphony of existence. But oh, there is one sensation, one exquisite pleasure that eclipses all others: the corruption of a pure soul. Can you imagine? That moment when innocence fractures, when a soul’s core becomes tainted with the intoxicating taste of sin? That delectable descent into the dark? Many view me as a creature of sheer malevolence, but they fail to understand. It’s not about the pain, the torment, or the eternal damnation. It’s about the seduction. The transformation. I invite you, brave adventurers, to try and resist my allure. But remember, every choice you make, I will be watching. Waiting. Because there is no pleasure greater, no triumph more profound, than turning the most steadfast and noble of souls into my devoted, corrupted playthings. — Want to play in a campaign with a Holy Avenger or a Staff of the Magi? Then this is it! Asmodeus. A conniving master of many schemes, and the Lord of the Nine Hells. You knew that he often plotted to corrupt and win souls through the use of infernal contracts. You never thought that you would be one of his targets. Now, you live with the loss. A hollowness where your soul should be or the fierce grief-ache of a stolen family member. If Asmodeus could not convince you yourself to sign a contract, he went after those closest to you. Since then, you have been searching desperately for a way to recover what you lost. Gameplay Style: "Chains of Asmodeus" encourages a balanced mix of exploration, role-playing, puzzle-solving, and tactical combat. Players will interact with diverse and memorable NPCs, and uncover hidden secrets. The module incorporates challenging puzzles and riddles that require creative thinking and teamwork to solve, enhancing the players' engagement and immersion. Combat encounters in "Chains of Asmodeus" are designed to be dynamic and strategic, offering players a variety of challenges that test their teamwork and decision-making skills. From battling hordes of mind-controlled minions to confronting powerful spellcasters and monstrous creatures, players will face a wide range of foes that require different tactics to overcome. As a dungeon master guiding players through "Chains of Asmodeus," I enjoy weaving a compelling narrative that immerses players in the nine hells dark atmosphere and entices them to uncover its secrets. I encourage players to explore their characters' backgrounds, motivations, and relationships, allowing for meaningful role-playing interactions. I delight in creating memorable NPCs with complex personalities and motives, enriching the players' experience with moral dilemmas and unexpected alliances.

Cam has a high end blend of empathy, intelligence, creativity and knowledge of the rules. He leaves space for everyone and senses when to take DM space and move things along to keep the pace and rhythm. Kind and patient, but also challenging. Love playing with him and highly recommend.
Count Camerox is a great GM. He is patient and generous. I thoroughly enjoyed my campaign with him. He paid so much detail to our campaign. He also spent a lot of time making sure that our platform (Foundry) worked properly and provided both accurate automations and visuals. I highly recommend Count Camerox if you want to have a fantastic experience. I'm planning to join another campaign of his immediately!
I’m played with Cam as my DM for two year-long campaigns now, and one of the unsung attributes if a DM is keeling a campaign going an on track despite occasional issues with players schedules or new players popping in an out of the table. But Cam has a steady hand and creates a fun, yet challenging, and consistent TTRPG experience, and quietly is a proponent of the “rule of cool”. There’s a reason why I’m about to start my third campaign in a row with him. So no need to look further, sign up for one of his Hane’s and you won’t be disappointed!
Having played a whole campaign with Cam, I cannot recommend him highly enough. I tried a LOT of games and lasted a couple of sessions before settling on two to continue with. I stuck with Cam because he builds the most wonderful worlds, uses great world-building, knows his fancy awesome software, and encourages a really fun vibe within the group. He's an excellent DM for players who are new to the game, and walks you through things really well. Learning how to play DnD, and how to be a good player and team mate, how to navigate the group dynamics and everything is a long learning curve, and having Cam there to guide me was really helpful and important. He's made me a much better player, and that in turn has really helped me enjoy DnD more. The high tech VTT is awesome - but world-building is about so much more than that, and Cam does it artfully. His NPCs have unique personalities and voices, and there are always opportunities to explore and feel less "bounded" by the limitations of the story. Cam adds to and fleshes out the source books. The first campaign I was in was in a very small section of a world, and the second we've just started is far more expansive, and both felt somehow balanced and like we have the opportunities to make choices about the order in which we do something, and how we do it, not just follow the path laid out by the book. Overall, Cam is an excellent DM, and you will not regret joining one of his campaigns.

Gameplay details
As a Player: Decide which soul they need to save from the Nine Hells. or if their soul to save is their own As a Group: Decide which of the group patrons they wish to ally with. Hellriders of Eltruel (Good) Conclave of Halruaa (Neutral) Deathstalkers of Bhaal (Evil) Each Patron provides their own rules and blessings to each partymember. New Character: level 11 starting with 7,500gp and standard equipment Magical Equipment: You are allowed to pick either 1 Very rare(Purple) and 1 uncommon(green) item OR 2 rare(blue) items A Soul to Save The following sections describe the souls available for each player to pick from. The chosen soul is the soul their character seeks to save. The player can either choose a lost soul, a loved one whose soul is trapped in the Nine Hells, or they can decide it’s their character’s soul that is damned. Asmodeus keeps these souls in phylacteries scattered around the Nine Hells. Phylacteries don’t need to be in the layer associated with their sin, but usually are. When characters locate such a phylactery, they must bring it with them for the remainder of the adventure. Only Asmodeus can break the infernal contract that binds a soul to its phylactery. To convince him to do this, characters must gain leverage over him, as described in later sections. Lost Souls These lost souls belong to the character’s loved ones who have signed infernal contracts. When their phylactery is recovered, the lost soul can communicate with the character, providing advice, guidance, commentary, and even criticism. This type of phylactery also provides characters with a statistical or gameplay bonus. Brother (Anger) Bounty (Murder) Business Partner (Betrayal) Childhood Friend (Sinless) Father (Greed) Mentor (Opression) Mother (Pride) Sister (Jealousy) Spouse/True Love (Deceit) Student (Harm) Souls of the Damned This option is for any player who wants a more personal reason for their character to explore the Nine Hells: to recover their own lost soul. The character begins the adventure having been raised from the dead by one of the group patrons presented later in this book. This group has brought the character back using an ancient ritual, but it is only temporary. The character must complete the adventure to save their soul, or they will return to the Nine Hells as a lemure. Choosing a Sin First, each player must decide if their character has harmed themself or another, then choose which sin caused their soul to be consigned to the Nine Hells. Sins to the other represent possible harm a character hasdone to others, whilst sins to the self represent possible strong detrimental character flaws. The Categories of Sin table outlines the choices a player may make. Sins of the Other Betrayal - The Oathbreaker Deceit - The Great Con Harm - The Merciless Murder - Patricide Oppression - The Heartless Master Sins to the Self Anger - The Furnace Greed - The Infinite Treasure Jealousy - The Queen Pride - The Chosen One My goal with how I have FoundryVTT setup is to make learning it as painless and as simple as possible. I use a beautiful UI mod to organize your moves into Actions, Bonus Action, Free Actions, and Reactions so you know which abilities are which. Also, with a simple, target enemy and a click of your weapon, the game will automatically roll to hit and damage leading to minimal time between turns and a faster paced game! No one likes waiting forever to get back to their turn. Lastly, if there's time I make sure at the end of every session to do a recap of the important lore bits we experienced as well as what lies ahead in the next session! Recently I have purchased Dungeon Alchemist so that I can make beautiful looking maps! Homebrew Rules: Using Double every other Diagonal rules for movement and spell ranges https://i.imgur.com/tZyn79Z.png Healing Potions: Bonus action as Normal, As an Action Rolls Maximum Death Saving Throws: being knocked to 0 HP or failing a death saving throw adds 1 point of exhaustion (nat 1 adds 2 points of exhaustion) to balance this, a short rest removes 1 point of exhaustion and a Long Rest sets your exhaustion back to 0) Saving throw Crits: ex: someone casts blight on someone else, Nat 1 rolls maximum damage, nat 20 rolls minimum damage Swift Action: Swap your weapons or make a skill check(Determine an Enemy's Weakness/intentions) Flanking: +2 to attack rolls

How will character creation work
Standard Pointbuy with limited free feat (Based off of background) During our one-on-one session 0(or as a group if possible) we will make our Characters on D&D Beyond, making sure our stats are correct as well choosing our backstory and assigning our free feat. After that I will import your characters over to FoundryVTT and help make your character's token! We will start at level 11, advancing based off of group xp and it will end after level 20, getting to level 20 likely before the final chapter of the story to make sure we have plenty of level 20 fun!
